Here is something that I made for a friend about a month or so back. Was originally going to be entirely vector, but then I realized that was not the look I was going for. But I think I did a nice mix of the two. The image itself is a little odd of a resolution... but meh. The font in my opinion is kinda bleh... Anyways here it is.

The vector itself looks great though I'm not too sure about the background in it's composition.

Did you trace the original image yourself to vector it or was it a plug-in or something like that? Either way, the vector part looks decent, but the background is terrible IMHO. All the different elements (C4D, noisy green-ish stuff, bad fonts and text effects, boring grey background) just don't go together at all, everything looks like it was just thrown in there randomly. Not a fan of the colours either, the sepia-ish of the vector and the green and blue/grey of the other random stuff just don't work IMO.

 

 

 

I think the vectored part has potential, but I'd definitely ditch the current background, start over on that and try to make it go well with the focal in terms of style, colours etc.

Yeah I'm wondering if you actually did the vector part yourself or not. I mean, the rest of the image looks horrible except for it.

Yes the vector is of my creation.

 

 

 

I think the main thing that went wrong in this image is I am left-brained. I made the image in parts and tried to merge them together(Vector, C4D, Brushing). And the way that I set them up was very odd. I think if they were in separate pictures they might have worked in there own way, but here It was to much in contrasting styles without flow. Really it could be defined into 3-4 pictures that were thrown together to get and ending project.

The correlations then from there only parts mix with others. It has an imitation of flow that goes out from his face but then is cut off by the color change from the bright to the dark. It is quite over exposed in sections which should be toned down.

 

 

 

With the style of it it seems more like an informational poster. (which I think that was what the reason for the request rather than a sig.)

 

 

 

Thanks for helping me dissect the problems in this. Had my eyes glazed over from working on it so I could not see the major flaws.
