Potential way to lessen stolen accounts

Featured Replies

I was thinking, since jagex can tell you your last ip address everytime you login. Why not have them develop a system where only your account will login under your set ip address. So only the ip addresses you set will be able to log into the account.

Not a chance in hell.

A lot of people use dynamic IP's, and even static IP's are subject to changing now and again.

And to counteract that, that means you'd have to be able to log into your account via the website so you can edit the IP's if your's was to change...so if someone gets your password, it wont stop them logging in, as they can just add their IP to the list.

Please, THINK before you post, otherwise you'll fall under the same view as Blaziken. (Which isnt a good thing by the way, far from it infact)

I would refer you to the search button, but, really, try using your eyes. This same topic was about 3 posts south of yours.

Getting account stolen is the victim's fault. It's easy to avoid getting keylogged or phished. You can also not tell anyone your PW.

What about younger siblings who don't know about keyloggers? (although any good anti virus would delete the thing before execution)

You're obviously not aware that people could upload any type of file to the internet and put a keylogger code on it? Some people who get hacked get hacked because they got a keylogger from some random website (or even a sig on tip.it!).

But I do think this is a good idea, but you would have to have 2 passwords--one for the IP address setting and one for your RuneScape account. If this was made so, there should also be an option to answer a question, like the account holder birthdate or something, this would make RuneScape a whole bunch better.
