SportsGuy
In the Random Event for Dr. Jekyll, he always seems to ask for the highest herb you have in your inventory or a guam leaf if you only have guam or no herb at all. I've found that if I'm lucky enough to be near a bank, I can alter what he's asking for by grabbing a higher level leaf. I haven't tried with a grimy version yet, but the higher quality leaf you seem to give him, the better the potion you seem to get in return. Giving him a toadflax herb today got me a 4 dose defense potion, whereas in the past, guam leafs seem to result in 3 or 4 dose attack or strength potions (I can't remember which) while talking through the options with him with no leaf seems to result in a two dose strength or attack (again, can't remember which). If someone else gets this event, you can talk with him briefly, but run away before giving him an herb or telling him you don't have one, then if you're close enough to a bank, run and get a toadflax, and see what you get. If it's a 4 dose defense, then perhaps that's what you get from that herb. I seem to remember that I've received a 1 dose super defence. I can't remember what leaf it was Has anyone done their own research? Perhaps we can get a bunch of people to start testing this from the lower level herbs, up with two at each herb, to confirm whether it's random. It might not be completely random even then...it might be a random range depending on different herbs. EDIT: I did a web search and it seems that some other sites have done their own research. I still think this is worth mentioning on the tip.it site, especially since I figured a little of it out without resorting to plagiarizing. If we did our own research, then it wouldn't be plagiarizing anyway, right? Cowman_133
If we did our own research, then it wouldn't be plagiarizing anyway, right? Correct. That is quite interesting. If we can gather enough data we can certainly add this.
pokemama
Detailed information about the Jekyll herbs-potions was added to the guide at one point, but must have been inadvertently deleted. There is a firm dividing line at ranarr, and Jekyll will NEVER give a prayer potion. For herbs from guam up to ranarr, he gives you a lowest potion of the next highest herb. For herbs from torstol (dwarf weed maybe?) down to ranarr, he gives you the lowest potion of the next LOWEST herb. The best deal out of this was to give him a Cadantine when he asks ... you get a Super Restore potion for it! I am going to make a ROUGH GUESS list here, but need your comments to make sure we have the list right: Guam - Antipoison Marrentill - Strength Tarromin - Restore Harralander - Defence Ranarr Weed - Agility ? - does he ask for toadflax? I'd think not - - I would assume not for spirit weed either - Irit Leaf - ? Avantoe - Super Attack Kwuarm - Fishing - does he ask for Snapdragon? - Cadantine - Super Restore Lantadyme - Super Defence Dwarf Weed - Antifire - does he ask for Torstol? - Please do post so we can confirm these. EDITED for mistakes 17 Dec it's a lot easier to get over yourself when you look at intelligence the same way you look at beauty, or height, or eye color: being smart is easy, but being good is hard ... being smart is handed to you, being good is handed to *nobody*. The only one I was sure about was the one I gave him as a test. It's hard to test, because not only do you have to get THAT random event, you have to get it close enough to a bank AND have that leaf available and cleaned. He didn't ask for an uncleaned leaf that was higher than the toadflax, so I'm guessing he doesn't accept them (since he has to ask for it). Again, all you do is walk away from him without continuing the dialogue to get him to "re-ask" for a new herb and he only asks for what you already have. So to get a higher potion, you have to have a higher herb. For no herb, we know you get a two dose strength potion by continuing the dialogue. For marrentill, I seem to remember an antipoison. If you extend that pattern out, assuming it's the lowest or first available potion made from each herb you'd get a list somewhat different from yours and somewhat like the list I saw on another site, although from what I've seen, the pattern is wrong after Ranarr, except I know Toadflax is defence because I did it. That's what the testing will be for, I suppose! NONE: strength - 2 dose GUAM: ? - ? MARRENTILL: antipoison - 4 dose TARROMIN: attack - 4 dose HARRALANDER - stat restore - 4 dose RANARR: ? - ? TOADFLAX - defence - 4 dose SPIRIT WEED: ? - ? IRIT: ? - ? AVANTOE: ? - ? KWUARM: ? - ? SNAPDRAGON: ? - ? CADANTINE: ? - ? LANTADYME: ? - ? DWARF WEED: ? - ? TORSTOL: ? - ? I realize I don't have a guam leaf in there, but I don't know for sure if that would be a 4 dose strength since you get a two dose from nothing. Is that confirmed? I also looked up this list and saw that Torstol isn't supposed to give anything, but I guess that's since it's a Zamorak brew? If it can be confirmed that it's not on the list, then I suppose we should take it off. And if it's confirmed that guam does give a four dose strength, then I'll add that. I can confirm about the toadflax one since that's what spurred my thought of making a table. Ranarr, well, someone would have to try that out, I suppose. What about stuff like Snape Grass or the Jungle potion or Recilym balm ones (like Ardrigal, Rogue's purse, Sito foil, Snake weed, and Volencia moss)? I'm going to start at the highest ones I can do from now on until I get a completely confirmed list. In the meantime, that's something for the rest of players to think about. If you'd like me to write a "guide" for it, I will do that. I'd kind of like to, but I'll understand if crewbies want to take it upon themselves. pokemama
Ok I found the topic from a zillion years ago, the post is viewtopic.php?p=5052950#p5052950 I was way off in what I remembered, lol - except for the bit about no prayer potions. It also does not follow the pattern once described to me, of the higher herbs going one step down - they are quite uneven. I compiled a list of what potions Jekyll gives you from all the standard herbs. I have not tried any of the quest related herbs but i'm not so sure they would work. :-s No Herb - Strength (2) Guam Leaf - Strength (4) Marrentil - Antipoison (4) Tarromin - Attack (4) Harralander - Restore (4) Ranarr Weed - Energy (4) Toadflax - Defense (4) Irit Leaf - Agility (4) Avantoe - Super Attack (4) Kwarm - Super Energy (4) Snapdragon - Super Strength (4) Candantine - Super Restore (4) Lantadyme - Super Defence (4) Dwarf Weed - Magic (4) Torstol - Does not accept Might be useful to attach it to the Jekyll/Mr Hyde Random event? So, it agrees with your post, and was confirmed at the time by a crewbie. Not sure if spirit weed fits in anywhere ... but if a crewbie chooses to, they can add this to the random guide. I think it would be a Good Thing. it's a lot easier to get over yourself when you look at intelligence the same way you look at beauty, or height, or eye color: being smart is easy, but being good is hard ... being smart is handed to you, being good is handed to *nobody*.
