SPORE Help!

Featured Replies

I have been having a problem with spore which is now a bigger problem....

First off when i start the game i get "This application has failed to start because WSOCK32.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem"

if you click ok it pops up again... do this 6-8 times and the game starts.

I decided to re-install the game when i got the C&C parts pack because it said the game wasn't installed

now i still get the same errors when i open the game... the screen goes blank and then it says the game crashed.... do you wish to close....

and the parts pack still says the game isn't installed....

im using Vista x64

Thanks for any help

I remember having the exact same problem, except the file name was different. From what i remember i just typed that name into google and downloaded that file. After that my problems were fixed.

Also i remember the problem was spore couldn't find the file even though i downloaded it new, so i copied that file and placed it in multiple folders, including the spore folders.

Hope that helps

it was already in system32, but not in system so i put it there

i then got the same message but it was WINMM.dll instead oy WSOCK32.dll

i downloaded that and did the same thing...

now i get a different error "The procedure entry point SMapLS could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll"

should i download KERNEL32.dll too?

EDIT- didn't do anything...

thanks

One thing i think i should mention is when you go around moving or adding files in your system 32 folder you have a chance of windows not booting normally. It happend to me when i was trying to get spore to work #-o

I'll try locating you a better fix.. But no, don't touch any sysfiles named kernel or kernel32. It's also not possible for it to be missing, because you wouldn't even be writing here in the first place. Windows can't run without the link library kernel32.

The only dll's and files that can cause an irregular/unfunctional boot are those who are launched when you start windows like the abovementioned kernel32.dll, explorer.exe which should be write protected anyways, etc... Adding missing, passive dll's into system/system32 folders that are only called upon via user input (like opening the spore executable client) doesn't cause boot problems.

Ok 8-) If you got a specific problem with C&C RedAlert, Tiberium wars etc.. And need it fixed, you can request help from users on this topic or make a new one, up to you.
