~Clan Chat Improvements~

Hey, I am Drei Hundert. I'm a silver star rank in a well known skills clan chat, "Skill Union". Recently, I've been noticing many problems that have made monitoring a clan chat very difficult.

~The Problem~

When someone breaks the rules and is kicked, there's no way to prove exactly WHO kicked them. So if a clan chat monitor kicks a user improperly or abuses his/her ability to kick, nobody can prove that he/she did it. This leaves plenty of room for false accusations, and it makes it hard for leaders to know if the chat monitors are doing their job right.

~Solutions~

1.) When a user is kicked from the clan chat channel, the user receives a message, saying "You have been kicked from the channel by user (User Name)."

2.) When a user is kicked from the clan chat channel, the entire clan chat recieves a message stating who was kicked and who kicked them.

3.) (Thank you F O 3 S from "Chill_Chat" for this idea)

When a user is kicked from a clan chat, it logs it into a temporary log for about a week, that only certain members may read. much like the "who can kick" option, there can be a "who can read kicks log". The kick log would be a button next to the "Leave Chat" button, and the "Clan Setup" button. The log would log the last bit of talking from both the one who kicks and the one who is kicked, much like evidence is saved in the case of an offense report.

~Other~

If you are a part of, or own, a clan chat, please talk to the leader and get him to allow me to add his/her clan chat to "Supporting Clan Chats"!

~Problems with solutions~

Problem with solution #3-

With all of the kicks that happens, the logs would take up a lot of space for the RuneScape servers.

Possible solution for problem-

Kick logs could be an option only for members account clan chats.

To prevent spamming and accidental kicks, we could:

A)Force members to stay in the clan chat for 5 seconds.

Well, I agree with the concept, and I think that it should not give you the name, but rather "You have been kicked from the clan chat by a "Captain"" or something along the lines of that. I also think that not everyone in the clan chat should find out who did it, as it would cause excessive spamming.

I have often wondered why this wasn't active long ago. There are definitely changes that need to be made. I will support this as long as it adheres to RS rules. Changes can and should be made to the way clans have to deal with clan chat situations.

the logs could be f2p too, since there are f2p based clans. perhaps the log on f2p may stay on for a certain period of days.

Also a manual kick box, much like the report abuse system should be put in place. Such as you type in someone's name and their kicked whether their in the chat or not for 1 hour. There are many fast spammers out there, who are just a pain to catch.

I support but why would kicking be spamming. If you gave a person the power to kick and he/she is spamming it, then kick him/her out.

I think you may have midunderstood, or I have worded myself wrong.

The point is that if someone is spamming or abusing their kicking powers -- we wouldn't be able to tell who it was so that we could kick them out.

I agree with the third solution.

The first two didn't seem to make sense to me :geek:

1. people could easily lie about who kicked who when that person gets a message "omg! the noob [name here] kicked me! I got the message saying it!" they could be lying if they dislike the person.

2. if the whole clan hears it, that may affect peoples views on other members of the clan. If it was a really offensive person who was kicked, some people could think differently and could cause some chaos.

#3 ftw! wewt
