Microphone doesn't work in ventrilo (Works in test mode)

I can't use my microphone in ventrilo (v 2.1.4) but it works flawlessly in the test mode on setup.

eg MSN messenger (there's an audio test/setup under tools or something)

Are you sure you have the right microphone selected in ventrilo? Try setting that microphone as your default if it isn't.

Yes I'm 100% that I have the right one selected. I also hear a sound when I press the hotkey(to talk) like it normally would, but no sound go through.
