Nadril
Hey guy's. I've been working on building a new computer for my younger brother. The specs are as follows: ASUS P5Q Pro motherboard EVGA 9800GT Corsair 8GB RAM (4x2GB) Intel core2duo E8500 @3.16ghz Roswell 600W PSU Western Digital 1TB Hard Drive The problem is that when we boot up the computer it will not POST. The screen is blank (on standby) and nothing shows. Do you all have any idea what could cause this? I've tried running it with only 1 stick of RAM, with and without the SATA ports, with and without any mouse/keyboard. I reset the CMOS (blue jumper pin, not the battery yet) but still haven't gotten anything so far. What would be the cause of this? There is a green light on the mobo from the PSU, and everything turns on fine (hard drive is spinning, CD drive works, fans are going including CPU fan) but it just doesn't POST or do anything. sloter
Is it showing anything on your monitor or even taking the monitor out of sleep mode?
Nadril
Monitor stays in sleep mode the entire time.
sloter
Try running one module of memory a different one each time to see if you have bad memory. It could also be your graphics card.
Nadril
I think my dad may be trying the memory thing now, I'll do it later if not. I know it's not the graphics card however.
Nadril
UPDATE: Just tried the RAM, no go. Switched out every piece into the 1st slot with no go. I noticed that sometimes the motherboard (especially when I only had 1 stick and not 4 in) would run for 5 seconds, then turn off and then turn back on (and stay like that). It still doesn't show anything on the monitor (Sleep mode still) but I thought it was odd. When all 4 sticks were back it didn't do it anymore? :? sloter
Possibly a faulty mother board or cmos chip. It could be lots of things. Try contacting your mother board manufacture and asking for an rma?
