forestfrolic
So, with my Christmas money I'm seriously considering buying the new PSP 3000. I currently own a Nintendo DS, and a computer. That is all I have for gaming. I sold my Wii, just didn't enjoy it. I don't play DS much, at all, because the games just aren't fun. I'm a 16 year old guy.. the graphics are lame. So I'm hoping a PSP will give me some good games to play with on the go. Do you think I will be satisfied with the PSP? Or will it end up collecting dust like my DS. Nadril
Meh, no love for the NDS? I still find that I prefer some of the games (look wise) to the PSP's attempt at 3D, which in some cases (with exceptions) looks pretty horrid. You could get yourself a flash cart. Download homebrew and [cabbage], including Quake, Quake II, Doom/Doom II, Hexen, Heretic, Rise of the Triad, Duke Nukem 3D.... and about any other old school FPS you could think of. Of course you could simply hack the PSP's firmware as well to get the same thing done, with the added support of having a stronger system to handle stronger homebrew. Look at the PSP lineup and see if anything interests you. I still prefer the NDS but I Wouldn't mind having a PSP just for the sole purpose of putting homebrew on it. Also whats wrong with games like Contra 4 (manly!), FF3, FF4, Chrono Trigger, Advance Wars: Days of Ruin, Castlevania series... All of these games look wonderful. Sure, they aren't going to be 3D but they are artistically incredible. Also Contra 4 is a mans game if I ever did see one.
fubol
NOTE: I'm not flaming annything , just give my opinion Well Nadril , sure there are good games for the NDS but so are for the PSP wich has some wonderfull titles like God of War : Chains of Olympus , the GTA stories (Vice and Liberty City) , Ratchet & Clank (one of my favourites) , Crisis Core , Loco Roco (may seem childish but it pwnz) , and so much others I agree that there are not as much game releases on the PSP as on the DS but when there is a PSP game released , It's awesome (ya' can't deny that 8-) ) Also when talking about homebrew , the PSP is just a bomb ... A primary reason why some peaple buy a PSP is for the awesome hombrew community (not that the DS is bad but , yeah ..) I would advise you to buy a PSP 2000 , as it can be hacked and has better battery life (like 45 minutes more then a 3000) And a PSP is so much more then just a gaming device , like the commercial says : "You got the whole world in your hands" To make a long story short : I got one for x-mas and since then i fel in love (shhh , don't tell my girlfriend :-# ) Signature by LittleboyRunescape and impatient people are like ying and yang, they exist as one, they need each other
Harakiri
I bought one last christmas thinking it would be exciting and fun, but soon found that their were not many good games. Not many people were putting games on the thing, and I ended up buying some PSP 2008 magazine and seeing absolutely nothing worthwhile in the future. I sold it. The DS is alright, its just that if you want a real gaming experience, you usually have to have a console or PC. There are some good titles out there for this generation of handhelds, I just have not found many that appeal to the hardcore gamer in me.

Nom
Yup, American currency makes perfect sense in a pic like that. It's not like Nintendo is a Japanese company or anything.

Princess Viola
Yup, American currency makes perfect sense in a pic like that. It's not like Nintendo is a Japanese company or anything. It's the American versions. Same company. I never said it was a different company. I said it was the American versions, that print American currency. Also, if you ever insult my Nintendo knowledge again. So help me God, I will make sure your death is as slow and painful as possible. This is a warning to all of you. Harakiri
This is a little off topic...the pics are funny...but this is about Sony...not nintendo... I was inclined to buy a UMD of the original Batman movie, but knew I would look like a huge douche if I turned it up on the bus and made everyone hear the horrendous music and stuff...
sephiroth_king
I have the PSP 3000, got it for Christmas. To be honest, the reviews that say the scan lines that occasionally appear on the screen...Aren't so much if a hindrance at all. If I focus a whole lot, I will see the scan lines, otherwise I will not see them if focusing on a cut scene, etc. The screen is way more vibrant, it's brighter, and the new finish on it doesn't leave fingerprints. Unfortunately, dark_alex (PSP Hacker) cannot find a way to hack the PSP 3000, nor can he figure out how to hack the current model for the PSP 2000. This is why I kept my older PSP despite having dead pixels, and in turn, all of the current PSP's that are sold right now are unhackable, so go to Gamestop and buy an older model that is hackable, that is, if you want homebrew. The PSP has great emulators, including the Daedulus X 64 project, which should be running Nintendo 64 Games/ROMs in no time at all \...There are Gameboy Emulators, Advanced emulators, and the infamous Pops Loader that allows you to play PS1 games. It works damned well. So hacking allows the full functionality of your PSP...Including allowing to rip the ISO's off of your UMD and save them onto your Memory Stick...I guess it's useful and not illegal, provided you keep your UMD while you have the ripped version. Yeah...I had the most fun on my PSP, thats why I preferred that over my DS and sold it...In reality, though, I'm going to end up getting the DSi, though. Hoping to get a new Signature (with matching avatar) soon. :D In the meantime...Steam username: )I'll rewrite it later (add me if you want)
