I found a new way for to do shadows on vectors, makes it much easier and looks much much much much better. It might just look nicer to have open water and more rocks than an ugly reef. Bagillions of little pockets that require shading and shadows don't appeal to me. If you want to make it look good, integrate the text with the background, so perhaps a watery sort of text [you could make this with pen/pathtool I'd imagine].
