January 21, 200917 yr MODS: I think this is the best place to post this kind of thing, but if it isn't feel free to move it to the correct forum! ok well ive been thinking of attempting to make a RPG flash game (i have plenty of experience programing flash, but every other time i attempt i give up because of my lame storyline). before i even start this time ive decided i will think up a really good storyline first, and perfect it so i know exactly what i have to make, and i don't end up sitting there not knowing what to do. just a little while i was reading this BBC news article about obama stopping all the proceedings at Guantanamo Bay, and i saw this picture of it: which inspired me quite a bit. i also took inspiration from the story lines of tv series prison break (the first season atleast), and some of the grand theft auto games. in a nutshell its about 3 inmates in a high security prison who plan to break out, but end up going through alot to do it. it will be played like the grand theft auto series, where you complete 'missions' to progress through the story, and are free to roam the prison in between missions. the player will have stats they can level that help them with various things (eg strength which they can level by lifting tables or going to the weights room or something, and theft which they can level by stealing things from other inmates) here are the notes i have written down for how the story will be played out. it may be hard to follow, but if you all have trouble keeping track of whats going on ill re-write it. RPG following 3 inmates planning to perform a break out of HUGE hi security jail. they first must create a system of operations, a mini goverment within the jail, a monarchy type of thing. at first very few people are told, the 3 keep it to themselfs. they start generating contacts within the prison, and building resources eg they get together with a few 'distant' contacts (they dont tell them much, they are distant friends kind of) who can hack computers, is an explosives expert etc. soon their first obsticle comes, one contact has spread the word to his mate, who is curious about whats going on. in a riot due to happen soon (due to planned changed outside hours or something) they murder the curious fellow they start their own gang within the prison, and slowly recruit memebers they start patrolling small parts of turf within the prison, making it theirs meanwhile contacts are being made with relitives outside the prison they manage to aquire a cell phone, the player has to meet with the visitor and obtain it one night, one of the 3 inmates gets into to trouble with a rival gang, and they have to be rescued by the other 2. eventually a mini goverment is formed within the prison. inmates are either with these 3, or with the rival gang. their are a few fence sitters. both gangs have a setup of head boss, leaders, co leaders etc. a monarchy eventually the gang that you play a leader of in the story manages to take control and eliminates the rival gang. it doesnt happen overnight, this is a MAGOUR part of the storyline. it will involve atleast 30% of the total quests now they have control the people we are following in the story continue getting what they need for the breakout. they revist old contacts (made early in the story) and find some are no longer interested in the deal. some however continue working for them, but SOME of the others who are no longer interested need to be eliminated (for various reasons) they progress quite a bit, but when they are almost readdy the lower levels in the gang monarchy decide they want to be boss. the 3 inmates are driven out, but manage to escape alive. they regroup and continue planning their breakout. they now have to be worried about being killed if seen by gang members though. eventually they manage to escape at night, and take down the gang while their at it. if anyone manages to read through it i would greatly appreciate your thoughts and suggestions. thanks in advance
