Having all the settings on low doesnt sound too great to me. Lets say the graphics card listed there costs $80 (which it does on its own according to http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/default.php?page=1&cPath=26). What graphics card would you recommend i upgrade to that costs around $150 and wouldn't require any other modification of the computer listed.

I havnt been on tip.it for quite some time. I quit runescape years ago. But ive decided to come back to ask a question because hopefully nothings changed, and the tech and computers forum is as usefull as it used to be. I left school and started work at the start of this year, so i have a huge amount of money to spend compared to what i used to. Ive finally decided im over the ancient family computer and want one of my own that no one else uses so i can use it for what i want and WHEN i want. Im looking to spend around $1000 Australian dollars (would prefer to spend all 1000, no less than 700, but nothing over about 1100). At the moment all i use the family computer for is web browsing, word processing, watching movies, all the basic stuff. But thats mainly because i dont bother buying any games anymore because im almost guaranteed the family computer wont be able to run them. Theres one game i know i would go out and buy straight away if i got a new computer, and thats GTA4. If it can play GTA 4 reasonably comfortably im happy. Storage is a big seller for me. Im always taking photos of things and never bother deleting any before i transfer them to the computer. At least 1 TB is what im aiming for. Ill need a monitor, keyboard, mouse, and speakers included. So to summarize: I want a desktop computer that will play GTA 4, ideally with at least 1TB of hard drive space, that includes the main accessories (monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers) for around $1000 AUD. Simple enough, or am i dreaming? Ill try to keep it short. After school today i booted up the computer. I left it while i got a drink and it booted into windows 7 RC automatically as usual. I came back and logged on and everything was fine. when i reached the desktop it froze (never happened before). I turned it off at the power button and booted back up, expecting all to be good, but it wasnt. Before i even reached to OS selection screen i get a disc read error. After alot of [bleep]in around i finally got it booting (using the win 7 beta disc, the win 7 RC disc kept spitting out errors and i didnt get a xp disc with the computer). but now it just boots straight to windows 7, and i dont get the chance to select xp. ive tried fixing again with the Rc disc but it doesn't work. I dont think the xp partion is corrupted, its still recognized as a disc in windows 7 and i can browse its files as normal, but it doesn't recognize xp as a OS. how do i fix it?

I lol'd. But, I'm not a troll, this is a real post. As long as you think you as a person are perfect in your own special and unique way thats great, but unfortunately your not above everyone else in the world, and not everyone is below you.

if it was you wouldn't be sitting in front of a computer now. you wouldn't have a roof over your head. chances are you wouldn't even have clothes on your back. I love maths. Everything makes sense and is logical unlike languages, especially English. Why do most words have to have a u after the q if q is the first letter? I really hate that kind of thing. With maths i can see things that actually have value, and manipulate data to calculate all kinds of wonderful and useful things, without worrying about laws like the one i just mentioned in English that doesn't seem to have any logical reasoning. I think im about the only one i know that did the hard maths in school this year only because i thought it was fun. The kinds of things i want to do in life wont require maths anywhere near as complex as what im learning. I still see a point to learning it, even if the point is just to do something that gives me a fuzzing rewarding feeling when i do something right. Maths rocks.

i couldnt get it to work either. what i did was slowly work my way down the legs, untill i was seeing one foot orbit around the other. i then stared at the lighter grey shadow below for a couple of seconds and she swapped directions. i think the lighter grey allowed me to not concentrate on the image as hard, as when i looked back at the black legs, they were going another direction. as for the spinning purple dot thing, i found i could make a green dot appear easily where there is no dot spinning just by looking at the image. to make the purple dots disappear i had to stare quite hard at the cross in the center

i feel for ya mate. just stop letting them use you, preferably by speaking to the teacher and being in a group by yourself, or if worse comes to worse don't do anymore work than they do. if you take the 2nd option make sure you get straight A's on all the none group work though, so the teacher doesn't think your a complete dumb a**

just download it anyway. or if you wanna: run a scan with norton (if it picks up anything dont delete it yet, take note of what it was), download avira antivirus, disable norton, and run a scan with avira. make a bet with your parents that if avira picks up something norton didn't, AND picks up everything norton did, that you get firefox. if your parents are paying for norton they need to do some more basic research into antivirus software. if i was god i would be writing a letter to your house, from some big government official, that the computer is now your legal property by law, and if they try to control your use of it in anyway they are breaking the law. kind of unrelated but meh

thanks for the help. ive got it running now and i can say im very impressed. ive never used vista before so this is a big change, but everything is much smoother than xp. despite all the extra visual effects its actually alot faster than xp i think

i know there's a topic already about windows 7, but i cant find it. anyway a few months ago i downloaded the windows 7 beta, and never got around to trying it out. ive heard some great things about it, so ive decided to give it a go. Im running windows xp, and my pc meets all the requirements. Im currently defraging before i attempt to make a new partion with Gparted. I have deleted some stuff and ive got about 45 gb free, which is more than enough i would think. my main concern is when the beta runs out in august i want to be able to delete the windows 7 partion (or uninstall it first, if thats possible?), and expand my xp partion back to full size. i hear people talking about shrinking partions, but never expanding them. is this possible? Also ive been told that when i do remove windows 7, the screen at startup will still come up asking which os (xp or win 7), just it will only have xp listed. Is this true and if so how do i stop it coming up? thanks

see, theres a reason. jokes about jews seem like a reasonable reason to ban you. and reporting your ip seems like a reasonable thing to do, after you flooded their server. flooding the server sounds pretty nooby to me. they must have banned you for a reason.

the metric system is alot more sensible than imperial. yes they should switch, but not this year take it slow, and start labeling everything in both units for a few years. people will soon get the idea being an aussie the only thing im used to using imperial for is the height of a person. even that is tricky for me though. if someone says someone is 6'4", i cant imagine how high it is very well. i just imagine 6 foot is average. my dad was in school when australia turned to metric, and he remembers when they suddenly started teaching it. i would imagine every year level would have had to go back to grade 1 for a while lol my nana stills works in imperial (she has some ancient scales that you have to push the thing along the front to balance it, not sure how accurate they are), but my pop being a retired science/math/tech teacher made the switch to metric (it would be hard teaching kids in the late 70's maths and science if you and the kids are using 2 completely different systems)

Hopefully i have some good advice because ive been through it all before -if it continues, ignore it for a week. -This is by far the most important part. if it doesn't stop, dont let it get to you, and make sure he knows that its not getting to you. If you cant help it getting to you, do something else or whatever it takes. -Remember that this person is a weak, attention seeking individual, and you are by far a much better person than him. People only bully because they have problems of their own, and it makes them feel strong for some time. Think of him like dirt, and treat him like dirt (within reason of course). -If he gets physical with you, defend yourself but dont go to the effort of getting in trouble over someone as low as him. -Pretend his not there, even if he is dont care one bit. remember, you dont care what a person like this thinks of you, they can think anything for all you care. what someone so low thinks means nothing to anyone. -If you get a good opportunity (dont fall to his lame level), stand up for yourself. (when he calls you gay, and you know his brother is gay for a fact, point it out. Also point out his logic, gayness is a genetic disorder in his mind. If his brother is gay then he must be carrying the gay gene). -Continue your life as normal You will find a bully goes through a cycle (in my experience they have anyway): 1. Somethings happened in the bullys life and they arnt very emotionally stable. Suddenly they become aware that your a vulnerable target (what happened to you at lunch would have made him aware), and they turn their bully guns toward you. 2. For a while (anywhere from a few days to a month), the bully starts firing an insult whenever they have a good chance. They feel good about themselves, and people around may think some of the insults are funny, which makes them feel even better. Its important to them at this stage that you are upset at their bullying 3. The bully starts to lose control, they are addicted the the buzz of bullying and need more fixes. They start firing off insults at every opportunity, as well as some extremely lame and low attempts at bullying to try for a bigger buzz. your not quite as annoyed at them by now (your used to it), so they have to do it more. 4. The bully gets to their lowest point. whenever they even look at you they might have a go at getting a fix. they will try bully you in extremely low, lame and hopeless ways. you've learnt well to ignore them now, and they arnt getting their fix of seeing you down. they have become very desperate. Other people around them will most likely have a go at them when they attempt a lame insult, which makes them even lower. By this stage you can probably stare them in the eye with confidence, and they will become agitated and may look away (after a very low insult toward you of course). 5. This is when they will either get violent, find a new target, the problem in their life will be resolved, or they will quit school with severe depression (in a very severe case). The problems over, although it probably ended for you ages ago when you worked out how to ignore them properly. They are now just someone on your list of morons you wouldn't do anything to help. As you can see, the stage they get to depends on your ability to live on even with their bullying (how well you can ignore them, what they have to go to to get at you). As your tollerance goes up, their self estine and reputation goes down. The quicker you ignore it properly, and stop it getting at you, the quicker it will end. You can ignore it tomorrow and it will be over in 3 days, or you can let it get to you for the next 4 months and it will last for 5 or 6. Teachers will tell you you must tell someone (a teacher, parent, friend etc), but you dont need too unless you cant stop it getting at you. If your dealing with it, no need to bring someone else in. Most of the time friends will work it out themselves anyway.

I love them. Sitting in bed, listening to the crash of thunder is very comfortable to me : They're great if I'm inside and safe. Actually, no, scratch that. I love thunderstorms, even if I'm outside. I just like rain in general. Hate snow though. (I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that I'm Taiwanese. I actually find myself to be pretty dry - my humor, my writing (according to my English teacher :wall: ), and my physical body - and that might somehow be my counter to the humid, humid climate of Taiwan. Or not. Maybe I'm just weird like that. :? thunderstorms are the best! there great inside where you feel so safe, and theres all this energy and power being released around you, but nothing can harm you because your inside. i havnt been out in any serious rain or thunderstorms for years (bloody drought is aussie). i wish it would just bucket down, and i could go outside and get as wet as i wanted, god would that be fun! (when it does bucket down and i go outside and get hypothermia it probably wont be so fun then lol)

I'd say the only advantage of driving and owning a manual is no one will borrow your car. manuals are actually fun to drive

i disagree. naming him is what should have been done. if he gets beaten to a pulp by some people who decide to take the law into their own hands, i certainly wont be missing him. people have the right to know who caused their houses to be destroyed, and their friends/family to be killed. i seriously hope that the government doesn't spend any serious money protecting him. "Hey, you destroyed a quarter of our state and killed hundreds of innocent people, but we dont care. we are going to spend tens of thousands of dollars supplied by those same innocent people to protect you. your welfare is more valuable to us than all the people who got killed!" i think the money would be better spent rebuilding what has been destroyed. just let the fool who did it back onto the streets. dont expect us to protect you you idiot, not after what you have done. after all, im sure justice will follow through even if we do let him go.
