Its annoying the crap out of me now. for the past few hours i get the same message popping up:

 

 

 

:!: USB Device not Reconized

 

One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not reconize it. For assistance in solving this problem, click this message.

 

 

 

I've been using it for weeks now, and nothin else is plugged in. why would it be playing up on me now? :|

Have you tried updating any drivers for it?

thats the thing. theres no drivers. its just a Plain IBM USB Plug'n'Play

What happens when you click the message to fix it?

Comes up with the usual Search options but nothing on repairing or malfuntions (thats microsoft for ya)

Try plugging it into a usb port on the other side of the pc if you have them, if you don't then still try a different port. (Example if it's plugged in at the back, try the front.)

I'd love to... but my bumbling sister blew the front 2 up last year ramming her useless iPod in and out trying to connect, and since were tight on money (and 1 computer so i kinda hate it) we cant fix it.

Well, still, unplug and plug back the mouse, maybe it would work ;).

Try it on another PC, if it doesn't work its dead.

 

I had a mouse go on me with the same message, luckily it was under warranty.
