Kepihan
Contents: 1. Introduction. 2. Requirements. 3. Mining the Spirit Glass. 4. Crafting the Empty Spirit Shards. 5. Charging the Spirit Shards 6. Experience Gained. 1. Introduction. Me and a friend were thinking today. Summoning is such an irritating skill to raise, though when you do it is worth it. Most skills have an extremely slow but cheap/profitable OR an extremely fast but expensive route to level up. But not summoning. No no no. Spirit shards make up the bulk of the cost of summoning. Keeping this in mind, we decided there should be a way of crafting your own spirit shards, though to match in with the opposite of fast and expensive, it is profitable when you make the pouches, but very slow. 2. Requirements. Level 1: 10 mining, 10 crafting. Level 2: 20 mining, 20 crafting. 10 summoning. Level 3: 40 mining, 40 crafting, 20 summoning. Level 4: 60 mining, 60 crafting, 30 summoning. Level 5: 80 mining, 80 crafting, 50 summoning. 3. Mining the Spirit Glass. Spirit shard 'rocks' would be mined in chunks, and as there needs to be a place to mine these rocks, we decided on a dungeon. To get to the dungeon, you would need to talk to Pikkupstiks, and he will teleport you there at the cost of 1 summoning pouch in your inventory. (If you have none, he will simply deny you.) When you are teleported, you find yourself on a disc in the center of a large circular room. The disc will have a portal in it which leads back to Pikkupstiks' upstairs. The disc has five doors which lead to five distinctly different areas, based around 5 different terrains in Runescape. Each one of the terrains has a different level of Spirit Glass. Level 1 (The woodland area) Level 2 (The swamp area) Level 3 (The cloud area) Level 4 (The abyssal area) Level 5 (The heat/fire/lava area.) Each area will have familiars in it based on the type of area you are in, but their levels will be toned up/down depending on what level they are in. You can mine the spirit glass there, but the familiars will attempt to attack you while you do it. So you will have to fight them off. The spirit glass is NOT STACKABLE and is UNTRADEBLE. When you are mining, you might find 'Chisel Shaped Shard' which will allow you to craft double the amount of shards for a certain period of time. This is explained in the next step. There is 1:100 chance of finding the chisel shaped shard among the glass. 4. Crafting the Uncharged Spirit Shards. This is the most simple step. Go to a bank and when you think you have enough spirit glass, withdraw a chisel and 27 glass. Use the chisel on the glass and depending on the level of your glass, you will recieve an amount of uncharged spirit shards. For level 1 glass you will get 10-30 spirit shards. For level 2, you will get 20-50 shards. Level 3 will get you between 40 and 80 shards. If you have level 4 glass you will get 80-110 shards. And for level 5 you will get 110-200 shards. If you found a chisel shaped shard, you will recieve double shards per glass for 500 pieces of glass. They are STACKABLE here, but still UNTRADEBLE. 5. Charging the Spirit Shards. Now comes the final step. As was said in the first step, the spirit shard realm is full of familiars which aren't bound by any particular person. These range from level 10 in the 1 zone, all the way to level 190 in the level 5 zone. In order to charge the shards, you have to kill the familiars in the realm. Killing a familiar will charge 75% to 125% of the familiars level in shards. E.G: If you killed a level 100 familiar, it could charge between 75 and 125 of your shards. If it comes out in a decimal, the amount of shards will always be rounded down. After you have charged all your shards, they become useable to make familiars with, finally. No cost, but a very long time spent. 6. Experience. Mining: Level 1: 20 exp per glass. Level 2: 50 exp per glass. Level 3: 100 exp per glass. Level 4: 120 exp per glass. Level 5: 200 exp per glass. Crafting: Level 1: 20 exp per glass. Level 2: 50 exp per glass. Level 3: 100 exp per glass. Level 4: 120 exp per glass. Level 5: 200 exp per glass. Conclusion: Overall, I think it'd be a nice feature to add to summoning. What are your thoughts? I'll try and make some fake images to add for it tomorrow. Zaaps1
How fast is it to get the glass? If it's on the lower end of the scale, then tone down the mining xp If it's near the top, give the shards per glass a little boost. Love the idea though. 100% Support ~It's Super Effective! Kepihan
Mining would probably be about the speed of mining mithril? I'd say it would be nice if you could get 100 p/h of level 5 at 80 mining. That's like 11k shards to 20k shards. Thanks for the support though, added a support list :D
Alfherin
I find the idea flawless. :D You shouldn't HAVE to pay for a skill, there should always be a way around it, if it takes a while or not long at all, there needs to be a raw material you can acquire or it's really not a skill, it just shows how much cash you've got. (Which is why construction is an absolute ****-ache) I think this is a brilliantly thought out idea. :) I also think as an addition there should be a small agility requirement to gain the different levels of the mining spots. :)
