January 25, 200917 yr Hey guys, here is the problem, hopefully you can help: Every time I turn on my computer from it being on shutdown or standby the monitor goes black but is still technically on. Every time I turn it off and back on again it will only stay lit for around 2 or 3 seconds then go black again. The monitor stays like this for usually 3-5 minutes and then starts working regularly. I checked all of the plugs but couldn't find anything wrong. Nothing major but I was hoping someone might know what's wrong. Thanks! ]
January 25, 200917 yr Make sure all the monitors cables are tight? Does your monitor tell you it is going to sleep?
January 25, 200917 yr Author No it doesn't. It just does it. The weird part is that it works fine after throwing a fit when it gets turned on. I can still see the outline of things when it does that so it doesn't completely turn off. Also the button is still lit green. ( It is usually orange when it is on standby.) ]
January 25, 200917 yr It sounds like there's a problem with your backlight, because you say you can still see the outline of things. When this happens, try shining a flashlight on it. If it's the backlight turning off, then you'll be able to see more of what's on the screen. To the best of my knowledge, monitors aren't very repairable, and unless you have a warranty or are an expert on monitors, don't get it repaired or attempt to repair it yourself.
