Check My Wiring. [Another...New Question, last post]

Featured Replies

Well, i'm thinking of buying some equipment that will allow me to record my Xbox, DVD player etc. to my computer.

I just wanted to know if this would work (Xbox 360);

Insert this;

Into this

Then plug the other 3 Composite feeds into 3 of these (one per)

Then plug the Dazzle into the computer.

Then plug the Xbox 360 composite wires into the second slot of each RCA Splitter.

Then plug all three splitters into this;

xbox360ph_scart_scart.jpg

Then plug that into the Scart input of my monitor (Hannspree HT09)

If you understood that, I love you.

Would this setup work to allow me to record my Xbox 360 from my computer using the Pinnacle Studio software?

basically you've connected your xbox to the pc monitor, and then split it and also connected it to your pc aswell.

sounds to me like it work work no problems at all, but you will probably have to use the pinnacle software that comes with the dazzle to record.

  • Author

Yeah, I will be using the Pinnacle software.

Also, is it 'Dazzle DVD Recorder Platinum' which I need? Not 100% sure on model.

Or is there any better alternatives around the £50 mark (UK)?

You should be able to use pretty much any TV tuner card which has scart/component in to do that.

Mm..Yeah.

So my setup with the Dazzle (and Thrash-Boy's hot diagram) will work fine?

Still not 100% sure on what model Dazzle I need, can anybody verify?

Well, it depends on what you've got. The setup will work. It matters what software you already have. If you already have an editing software such as Adobe After Effects, then get the DVD Recorder, which still captures like the Platinum. With the Platinum, you're basically paying $30 more for a ([opinion]buggy, unreliably, slow, annoying, poorly coded[/opinion]) copy of Pinnacle Studio 10.

Thanks, I just tried to buy it all from Amazon and my transaction didn't go through. #-o

correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't you need something that would go like this?

wrz2th.png

Otherwise it would try to put both inputs onto the tv (if that is possible) by the way that is shown in my image it would copy the output from the xbox to the input for both the screen and computer. So you are looking for a female to double female adapter, not aa male to double female adapter (I hope you understood that)

I found this one on ebay that is three way, plus it has free shipping to your country, but means that the cables you get to go to the scart input and Dazzle need to be male to male cables, not male to female (which you could easily find in your local electronics store pretty cheap.)

EDIT: might get one myself, pretty cheap too...

no, it wouldn't try and put both 'inputs' onto the tv. the male end of the 3 adaptors will be plugged straight into the female input hole in the adaptor for the monitor if ive understood correct.

it doesn't matter which way the double adapter faces, or from what angle the 3 plugs are situated on it, ALL 3 things plugged into it will be connected. the signal will not be directed in any particular way. the shape of the plug is like that souly to make it look good and be practical in situations where space is of concern.

wire2xz2.png

as you can see from my 2nd diagram, the signal from the xbox travels to the dazzle (pink arrow) as well as the monitor (blue arrow). the signal is split in the adapter and half of it goes to each of the other connectors.

EDIT: forgot one thing, the cables he has are male to male cables. you can see that in the first picture he posted.

EDIt2: the item you found on ebay is a switch. you plug in 3 output devices (dvd player, playstation and xbox for example) and then plug the output on the adaptor to your tv. when you want to watch a dvd you switch the switch on the adaptor to the input the dvds connected to, and switch it to the xbox input when you want to play some xbox.

you cant watch a dvd, play the xbox AND play the playstation at once.

so in the application wanted here, the OP would be able to either watch his xbox on his computer monitor, OR record his game play through his dazzle, NOT both at once. thats not want he wants to do

Ok, results. I purchased everything, got it in and here is what happened;

- The model which was confirmed to be OK does not record decent quality in 60Hz, therefore it is useless for the Xbox.

- Audio is non-existent due to unknown reasons.

- Amazon never listed the model number. Going to complain and return it.

Now I need to;

- Get DVC100 returned (hopefully)

- Buy USB 2.0 Hub

- Buy DVC170

I hate electronics. :wall:

Wait, if you have a desktop (I am assuming you do) then it may be better for you to get an actual capture card, rather then a USB one, as is won't require to run from a USB hub, people can't misplace it (I have had to rebuy stuff because of this) and should run better, the only problem is that you, or a friend of yours, needs to know what they are doing, or else you may end up trying to shove it in the wrong place, or panic and break something.

Yeah, I've been doing some thinking and have decided to update some cards in my computer and purchase and internal capture card.

I would reccomend looking up some of the how to videos on youtube, if you can find a good one they are great help, otherwise you may become more confused (looking at pictures also helps)
