I just restarted runescape a little while ago. I played classic, and pked a lot. I decided to check out the new PVP worlds (this game sure has changed haha).. I think I may be hooked.

 

 

 

I currently have two characters left. A main (which I could turn into a hi-lvl pker, but I'd rather make a low/mid to start off with)

 

 

 

In classic iron pures ruled the day.. It seems now that ranged/2h pures rule the f2p. Is it the same for p2p? I'm talking around lvl 50ish combat.

 

 

 

What kind of stats are gonna own the wild now at that lvl. Also will a ranged/2h pure grow into a good pker at higher lvls. I'm not completely sure of how the leveling system works now so forgive the last statement if it sounds like a dumb question.

 

 

 

Is mage effective at all.. and lastly what about defense.. I'll probably keep it at 1 while I'm <60cb... but are tank rangers/ mages something I will have to worry about?

First off, P2P PvP is very random. Nearly everyone uses a different style of combat and armour. High levels usually use either melee (with Gs etc.) or acients. So to awsner your question, no.

 

 

 

Moving on to levels. To be a high level range/2h you need at least 40 attack, 70 def, 43 pray and 90 ranged. I dont believe Range/2h is such a good combination. With a decent STR level you basically knock em out of the park, unless they have 80+ ranged which no1 in FTP really has.

About mage. If you are a pure in FTP most people you will encounter will be pures as well. Most pures wear d' hide because of its good defence bonuses. This makes mage pretty useless because most people have a positive mage defence (+50 or something). In members however, (using ice burst and tele block) mage is very effective to any enemy.

 

 

 

Defence tankers are not as usefull if you mostly solo. They are effective in a group because you can take all the hits of the enemies. Solo however, becomes very difficult.

For F2P, yes. Range/2h does rule but on P2P, there are 2 PK'ers who do well, Mage/Range pures combined or rushers.

 

A rusher is someone who uses a DDS, combined with Ancient magics, or D claws combined with Ancient magics for quick and easy kills.

 

 

 

Don't be suprised if you go through all this, only to find there is no honour what so ever. :?
