Okay, I just got a new computer and downloaded the most recent version of Java onto my PC so I can play RuneScape and I am experiencing lag issues already.

I will list my specs below of the computer and before anyone responds read fully first.

1) It's not my computer, the computer is brand new and more than meets the requirements for RuneScape HD.

2) It's not a spyware/malware/virus issue I ran a scan before I posted this topic, it came up clean.

3) It's not a speed issue with my internet (Taken 2 minutes ago) my speed is. 416954495.png

The Problem:

Every about 15-20 minutes I will get a small lag [bleep]e which stops what I'm doing for 2-3 seconds then resumes. I don't lag out of the game where I have to re-log in, I remain logged in while I get this lag.

My Specs:

Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium 64-Bit.

Processor: AMD Phenom 9150e Quad-Core Processor @ 1.80Ghz.

Memory: 4.00GB RAM.

Graphics Card: ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics 256MB of Shared Video Memory.

I would check the router settings there might be a timeout setting or some conflicting settings.

Router maybe, local server maybe.

I play on a worse comp than that with worse speed...

Thoroughly retired, may still write now and again

I wonder if you have some software which is accessing the net looking for updates and swamping your bandwidth? Uninstall anything that you don't really need, I know a lot of PC suppliers install all sorts of rubbish by default.

i have seen java applets(mainly rs) run slowly on some computers for the first week or so. they seem to lag after clicking buttons (such as a prayer, or switching to ur emotes from inventory page). [this issue has occured for me on Mac OS X, running RS in HD]

Honestly i think ur case sounds more like a network issue. I've seen networks do some very strange things. often times you can fix these issues simply by resetting ur network hardware (such as cable modem and router)

another possibility is that you have a background application that is connecting itself to the internet at certain time intervals.

I doubt its malware of any sort, assuming that you have decent anti-virus/firewall
