I run to the air altar with a bag full of regular essence, then I craft it into air runes. I run further west to the Crafting Guild and mine a full load of gold/silver (The latter seems to be more convenient because I usually 3-hit the silver rocks and the ore is only half the price of gold). Then I use the cabbage port and bank at Draynor. If I want to cut yews, I chose the yews near Falador south gates. They are very close to the altar. Or I can just do Runecraft alone.
