To be honest, I was a bit put out by the lack of responses for people helping me, so I intended to let this thread die. But I seem to all of a sudden got some people helping me! So thanks, I will keep this thread alive now. What your points has shown, is that it is the same system for everybody, and more importantly, "barely succeeding" doesn't seem to affect your points. It seems to be the same as succeeding normally. Now, we seem to have pretty much deciphered the basic point system. acenator Posted March 20, 2009 Share Posted March 20, 2009 As per request on your other thread here is what I plan on doing at next week's circus: I will use one event (likely magic) to see if doing the same trick twice in a row reduces the points for the second time you do the trick. I will use a lvl 80 trick so as to also check if my theory on the points was true (the .5 rounding bit; if the points come out at twice the confirmed point value+1, we'll know my theory was correct and that the points don't decrease for repeated tricks). If it gives the same points even though I did it twice, I will do the same for the level 40 and 60 tricks (to confirm the points given for the tricks and to reconfirm the .5-point thing). If not, I will just confirm the lvl 50 and 60 trick points with my 2 remaining events. It appears doing the same thing twice in a row does cause a slight loss in points for the second one you do (assuming my hypothesized points are correct) and yet, doing two different tricks of the same level gives bonus points (this could either be because of the "varied performance" bit or could be evidence that cities also have preferred tricks as well as emotes (I am surprised that the second lvl 80 trick I did gave 187 points when the first has been confirmed to give 102)). The point difference was actually 85 (could there possibly be a 10-point bonus for not doing the same thing twice?), but, either way, I would agree that it is likely a preferred trick. Because I only got 289 points for my mage event, I think it's safe to say that the actual point values of the level 20, 40, 60, and 80 events do not have the extra .5-point I thought they did and that they were, in fact, rounded by the programmer in the source code. I say this because, even with the extra points added on for the second trick, it came out as if each lvl 80 trick was worth exactly 102 points. Had the base points for the tricks been 102.5, the point total would have been 290. Because I only got 289 points for my mage event, I think it's safe to say that the actual point values of the level 20, 40, 60, and 80 events do not have the extra .5-point I thought they did and that they were, in fact, rounded by the programmer in the source code. I say this because, even with the extra points added on for the second trick, it came out as if each lvl 80 trick was worth exactly 102 points. Had the base points for the tricks been 102.5, the point total would have been 290. I love it when I have epiphanies. :XD: Hmm interesting... but do you think they're all rounded down? Because the original 20 trick that I did, gave 28 points, which was rounded up. If it was rounded by the source code, it seems irregular, rounding up and down... unless it takes turns to round... idk, still seems a bit unclear to me. No. I'm saying that the programmer rounded them before he put them into the source code. In other words, each point value, in the code, is a whole number put in specifically by the programmer who, in increasing the points by ~12.5 for each level increase, was forced to round them manually. Yeah, and I'll be sure to confirm it next week when I check that the 10-point bonus thing is the same for all levels (I'll do a single lvl 40 trick in one event to confirm the point value for that, then do two level 40 tricks in another event to check the 10-point bonus and the rounding. And then theres going back to doing the same twice in a row. How much does this decrease by? I realise I maybe should have investigated this... should we tell frigginacky to do this?
