Strength bonus from items.

Recommended Posts

I'm currently thinking whether or not i should buy a Bandos tassets.. So i checked tip.its max hit calculator and noticed the tassets wouldn't raise my max hit at all, with my current gear..

So i'm wondering if this makes it useless, or if the +2 strength bonus actually would make me hit high more often? Or does the strength bonuses from items only raise your max hit?

Thanks in advice ::'

it only raises your max hit if your going to do slayer i advise barrows armour instead but if your going to do something that requires less defence and focuses more on offence get the tassets

They only raise your max hit. Items like a Rune Defender or a Warrior ring will make your attack more accurate, since they give stab/slash/crush bonus, along with a higher attack level.

But don't take my word for it, i just like to kill stuff and don't really focus on the details...

* Two stats affect a player's maximum melee hit: their strength level and their equipment's strength bonus. The two of them calculated together result in the players max hit.

* A player with level 75 strength with a strength bonus of 0 would have a max hit of 9, but the same player with a strength bonus of +105 would have a max hit of 22. This is a clear illustration of why strong weapons are effective: the higher the strength bonus, the higher the maximum hit.

Personally i prefer defence over strength, but many people just like max hitting.

In my opinion tassets are too overpriced, i use torag platelegs/dragon skirt.

All of the above posters are wrong, and don't know what your trying to ask.

The answer is yes. It will raise your average hit, meaning some of the time a hit that would be normally rounded too, say, 15 will be rounded to 16. So it really doesn't matter what it does to your max.

He's talking about attack, as opposed to strength. I just gave him a quick outline on strength bonuses as he seemed confused to why his max hit had not changed after a +2 rise.

Ok firstly all compfreak says is "the answer is Yes"

I understand what you're saying, i just interpret it in a different way.

You're asking these questions....

1. Are Bandos tassets useless because they don't raise your max hit?

I kinda answered this in my original post, but indirectly. The strength bonus is very small, the item is very expensive, there are better alternatives like i said (torag legs, dragon plateskirt)

2. Would the +2 strength bonus actually make you hit high more often?

Misread the question, without the word 'high,' the question would be referring to hit frequency which is attack.

3. Does the strength bonuses from items only raise your max hit?

I explained this in my original post.

All of the above posters are wrong, and don't know what your trying to ask.

Really?

Well based off Jagexes Chicken v. Jad experiment, it looks like your have an even chance of hitting anything between 0 and your max hit if you don't miss, and I'm betting that the random number that they generate as your hit goes out to at least the hundredths place and gets rounded up or down.

If ^ that is true, then the only way that you would hit higher more often would be if your max hit was higher, and if the added 2 strength bonus does not increase your max hit, then you would NOT hit higher more often.

All that is based off of Tip.Its calculator being accurate, incomplete knowledge of the effect of strength levels and percentage bonuses(like a slayer hat), and a posting by Jagex that was not serious at all. So could be wrong, but do not think so.

Uh oh.. So the effetct of strength bonuses from items isn't certain then? Seeing as I've got both yes and no as an answer it's kind of confusing at the moment.

Or do you, compfreak, happen to have a source for your information?

And wioneo.. Where can I find this Chicken v. Jad experiment?

Thanks for your help so far, I appreciate it! ::'

Or do you, compfreak, happen to have a source for your information?

Sure. Thousands of hours of PVP testing and weapon hit spreads by me.

Your average hit is indeed between 0 and your max, but the number shown isn't nessasarily the max. For example, it's possible to hit, and then hit a zero - your zero is just a .4 hit, rounded down to one. The ecimal accuracy is greater, but the RS hit calculator rounds it off to one before displaying it. So if your max hit was 22.1, and now it's 22.4, your average hit will be higher even though your final max hit is the same.

A chickens max is 1 and they have no strength bonus on.

read the posted article, and you well see that roosters have a 0.77% chance of "wounding" and also a 50% chance of hitting a 1. Therefore the possible options after having successfully *hit* would be 1 or 0, which would support what was said before.

Against an Yt-HurKot they are much more successful, and have a 5.48% chance of hitting, followed by the same 50% chance of inflicting 1 Hitpoint of pain.

If they wore strength bonus the 50% chance of a 1 or a 0 would change.
