Clarification of rules.

The rule i'm talking about is the first and main one which seperates tipit from most other fansite forums:

 

 

 

1.1 - Breaking or encouraging others to break any of Jagex's rules

 

 

 

Violating Jagex's official RuneScape Rules on this forum is cause for being permanently banned from the Tip.it forums. This includes but is not limited to posting tips/pictures on how to cheat, trying to scam someone on the board, and trying to have someone click a link that is infected with keyloggers/trojans. Private server pictures and posts about worldswitchers/toolkits are forbidden. This includes discussions about using a third-party client and posting links to websites containing third-party client software. In game screenshots taken while using the Swiftswitch Worldswitcher/Toolkit will be allowed provided that no links are provided to download the application and no discussion of the features and benefits of using them is included. Jagex still highly recommends that these applications are not used and we are not currently allowing images from any other clients. We still ask that you crop any screenshots to prevent stretching of posts within the topics.

 

 

 

 

 

Yes i'll say ive got something personal with a certain user of this forum who broke the rs rules and posted pictures on tipit, but proved by various posts in the Rs pics threads in Gen discussion, i'm not the only person thinking that breaking the rs rules and saying you have done so to a major extent here on tipit, should get your forum account banned.

 

 

 

Now the rules say breaking the rs rules on ths forum will lead to a ban, but as i see it that means breaking rules such as trying to get personal information etc.

 

 

 

But this leaves us really open to become a community ofr rs rule breakers, i could in theory take pictures of myself scamming somebody and hacking them etc without saying 'how' i've done it, and get no punishment here on tipit?

 

 

 

Anyway, what i'm getting to, is that i think people who have broken the rs rules and brought it here to tipit, showing clear rpoof they have should be banned here aswell as in rs.

If it is clear that a user is breaking the rules (like if s/he openly admits to it), then they will be punished one way or another. Depending upon the severity of the offense, they could receive a warning, a temporary ban, or a permanent ban. So if you post a screenshot of you scamming someone and it is CLEAR as to what you're doing, there will be consequences (warning, temporary ban, or permanent ban). It all depends on your history (if you've broken Tip.it Rules before) and the severity of the offense.

 

 

 

If you ever see someone admitting to breaking the RuneScape rules or breaking ANY Tip.it Forum Rules, please report their post immediately so the moderators can be made aware of it. Then they will take the appropriate action against them.

Well probably not since that was a few weeks ago. We usually do not take action on things unless they were recent. But if you had reported them right away, then we could have done something.

I saw it all too. It was reported quickly, you and some other mods came through and cleaned it all up. I was wondering what was going to happen to the perpertrator.

 

 

 

For the benefits of the mods, it was Musky who was posting pictures and discussing abusing the alt glitch at BH, and the only 'punishment' was the mods coming through, cleaning out posts, and telling everyone to stop flaming.

Contact an administrator if you feel that a signature is oversized and it hasn't been dealt with. It's likely that the moderator who handled the report disagreed with you. Anytime that you disagree with a moderator's actions, you should contact the moderator in question to discuss it (in this case you can't, since you don't know who it was). If the moderator disagrees with what you say and you still feel that their actions were wrong, then contact an administrator to discuss it.

 

 

 

In this case, you don't know which moderator closed your report (or it may have even been an administrator). So just contact an admin directly.

That's the problem. The only one who knows of the 260px limit is Pyromancer, having set it, so I was hoping the report would go to him. I've reported 20+ sigs in the past week, guess it's time to start clogging up his inbox \

Your signature was ~311 pixels high. EMR's is like 277.

Not after the first revision. Mine was a 200px image with 5 lines of standard-type font when it was removed. I have the code from Pyro's PM to prove it. Each line of text is 15px spacing; he said the limit was four, which spaced to 60px when I trimmed it. Mine was 275px at the time.

You're forgetting that 5 lines is the rough limit for a signature which already occupies the 450x200 pixels. If you don't have any images, you can have as many lines of text as you want, until you hit the character limit and if it doesn't take up more than 200 pixels height.

The signature limit for images is 450x200 pixels 100 kb. We don't have an official limit for text because it's so hard to judge. We can't say 5 lines, because 5 lines of "huge" text is much larger than 5 lines of "tiny" text. As pryomancer said, if you have images that completely fill up the 450x200 pixel limits, we generally allow 3-5 lines of text in addition to that. But it's really up to the moderators to make a fair judgement since it's too hard for us to set a limit for text.

My images were within 200px. I don't understand why your going on about that. Everything in my signature was within the rules, but the revised version was 5 lines of text, and it was removed for that. I have no problem with that, but I get annoyed when I see people with larger signatures keeping theirs.

Verrry interesting. Our signatures are literally the same size, down to the exact pixel. Which begs my question: Why was mine removed for being 'too large', while his was allowed to remain because 'his text was smaller'?

 

 

 

Another point I want to bring up. When I was PMing Pyromancer, he stated that 4 lines of text were the limit for him in this PM:

 

Hmm, I don't think that has a definition. Normal text is font size 100 on the forums, I'd allow probably 3-4 lines maximum at that size, if I see smaller text though, it doesn't really matter as much, if 10 lines take up the same amount of space it's not an issue.

 

I agree completely with him. I see no problem with limiting my signature. What I DO see a problem with is my signature being banned at the exact pixel size of another member, who is let off scott free. In conclusion, I would like to say that I agree with pyromancer, and I have no problem whatsoever with trimming my signature down. I removed the top image, and it is now within the rules. I am, however, dismayed that my signature is being removed while another member with a signature precisely the same size is never penalized.

 

 

 

If there's a reason (mods don't like me, he's a TET crew member, Pyro made a mistake, etc. etc. etc.), tell me and I'll be happy and move on to the next oversize signature I've reported with no effect.

If the signatures are in fact the same size, and it looks like they are, then I do think that his should be removed. However, I'm sure it was just an honest mistake. We do NOT take action against users because we "don't like" someone and Tip.it Staff members do NOT get special treatment.

 

 

 

I think the problem is mostly just that we do not have clear text limitations. Because we do not have any clear limitations or guidelines, we mostly just have to eyeball signatures and decide whether we think they're too tall, which leaves a lot of room for error. I think the main thing that might have made your signature look bigger is just that you were using regular text size and evil_mumm_ra's is much smaller.

What does that have to do with it? They both were 200px image, 96px text. Are you saying that I could have made my signature bigger, with more text, as long as I made the text smaller before adding on to it?

 

 

 

It's good to know forum labels don't affect status, though. I had predicted that card would be pulled, and it's nice to see the mods going for fairness and equality :)

Again, you completely misunderstood me. I mean we don't have time to take a screenshot, and edit it accordingly to find out exactly how many pixels your text takes up. Of course we check how large the images are, all we need to do is right click>properties and it's done. The text, as has been stated before, is down to discretion, most mods probably base it on the amount of lines and total space it makes up, if that's reasonable or not.

I just timed it. The time to hit printscreen, press the windows key, type "p", hit enter, press "ctrl+v" and select a box around the image (which tells you the size): Just under 7 seconds. In the time your spending arguing about this, you could have checked a lot of image sizes.

 

 

 

So anyway, should I return to my old signature, how do I go about sending it to the mods who won't remove it when it is reported? Is there any way I can keep it from going to you or tripsis so it doesn't get removed? And if that's not possible, how do I go about sending evil_mumm_ra's report directly to you so it can be removed, and not to one of the moderators who doesn't want to remove it?
