A sore case of identity theft

Well I used to be a regular here. Back in simpler times, I had easy classes in middle school my biggest runescape worry was trying to kill that damned dragon so I could wear a plate. Now I've grown up in a sense. I started playing this game in my 8th year of primary school. Right around march of 2001. I played the game way too much for my health, but I was really terrible at it. Eventually I joined a corp called the renegades. It was really cool, I worked my way up it. I eventually got the position of banker and I managed one of the bank accounts. not even 2 weeks later the entire website was torn down and the bank account was wiped clean. It was around then I started to get suspicious.

 

 

 

You see I was kicked from the clan. From that clan I had made a couple of friends, one of which I remember being billabong. The powerhouse of leveling. I'd be sitting around talking trash and here he is working his way up. The clan had assumed it was me that messed up their entire operations. I'd think the same since whomever did it made sure to sign the work as my name. Sadly I maintained my innocence because up until even now I don't know anything about programming, or completely deleting websites. I mean sure I could buy up a domain name that has expired but I don't know what they implied, and I sure as hell didn't steal stuff in the bank.

 

 

 

Well over the next couple of years my in game account armagedon46 was continually "hacked" I say this because somehow the person would get my password through fishing or various means. From that I lose multiple rare drops back when they weren't worth much, oh well it's just a game. Finally I find out who stole the account, his real name is kyle noble some punk [wagon] kid who friended me on facebook. I eventually let him keep it since it gave me a reason to quit and I went onto the real world.

 

 

 

Over 4 years of me playing this game I've probably invested multiple thousands of hours. I was going to free myself. So it was all well and good, eventually I added kyle noble to my facebook through my hotmail contact list. I saw he was online, I decided to ask him about it. He stated that the game is no longer part of his time. That he has many more obligations. I just let it slip out of my mind, college is way more important than worrying about a java game.

 

 

 

Then my brother starts playing the game. I doubt you know him; he never goes to tip.it. But he has a character named cheese422. I try and get him to stop playing it, and cut it in the bud but it doesn't end up working. Now he plays as much as I did, I'd assume it's in the genes. Whatever, I get the bright Idea to find my old account and give it to him. There is no easier way to get someone to quit than make them go from a 40-41 level to a 90-91 level. "You mean I gotta get over 200 thousand experience??"

 

 

 

I message kyle, and of course he doesn't have access, he doesn't play the game. Whatever. Well I try and do account recover and these are questions that he knows, it references his favorite activities and you know what. [bleep] this guy. I try to account reverse so I can get access, doesn't go through, I try to account reverse 4 more times. Each time giving more and more information. My first passwords, my first friends, the ip address of where I accessed the game first. The only thing I didn't know was what credit card the guy who stole it used, and what was the verification code. Oh boy how do I figure that out. Well, you don't.

 

 

 

So a year goes by, I had someone bring up runescape in another discussion. So I decided to get my account back.

 

 

 

Thankfully it went through, but look I have jack [cabbage] on the account. Maybe 300 lobsters a couple of raw shark, and some lobster pots.

 

 

 

 

 

 

So this is what I have to work with, what the hell can I do to get me a set of full rune?

Well it's not technically hacked, as there were multiple people stealing it. My "friend" kept taking it without knowing. He lives in another country so its not like I let him into my house or use my account. I didn't give it to him illegally, I just said [bleep] it, not worth the worry of playing this game. As he didn't need my permission to play on it, it was literlaly his to do with.

 

 

 

I originally contacted him to see he still plays, and I could get access back. Since he would always [bleep] me over by taking it. Now you could say I was trying to hand it over to my brother illegally, but I never did give it to him. And it's mine now. I haven't done anything illegal since jagex is not the law, nor do I live in europe.

 

 

 

I really don't feel sympathy for [developmentally delayed]s either, I'll try and help them like I just did in your case. But damn it's not my fault your mother was a crack wriddled [bleep] who didn't want to get an abortion because her daddy said no.

Not only does this sound more like a "What do I do" thread (Help & Advice) than a discussion, but you basically said that you intend (or intended) to violate the RuneScape rules. Each account may only be owned and accessed by ONE person. So giving your account to your brother is a violation of the RuneScape rules and therefore also a violation of the Tip.it Forum Rules.

 

 

 

While I have to agree with a few of the other posters that it's your fault for "letting the scammer have your account" or whatever, if you still want assistance, you may repost this in Help & Advice. But General Discussion is for thought-provoking discussions and while you have provided us with a nice story, you end your thread with a question, which makes me think that you just want some answers rather than trying to generate a discussion. So feel free to repost your question in Help & Advice but leave out any references to you intending to violate the RuneScape rules.
