RS oldy here got a question on fishing efficiency.

 

 

 

I'm fishing in barbarian village and I'm not quite sure, is Pike or Fly fishing faster XP? I know that trout are 50 and salmon are 70 while pike are 60, so pike averages out better per fish since you rarely get more salmon than trout, but in terms of speed of XP, what is the faster option?

 

 

 

EDIT: Btw I have 77 fishing.

It depends on how many other people there are currently in the fishing spot, I used to fish salmon & trout though and it was pretty fast xp. Try to hop to worlds where fishing spots are empty.

 

 

 

The best method is to test it yourself and see which one you feel is more faster. :)

Fishing in no way depends on how many other people are there (like mining and woodcutting do)...

... I love people who think people can steal your fish from your fishing spot...

I did some trial myself and, in case anyone was wondering themselves, found that although pike if better XP per fish, speedwise trout and salmon are simply caught faster.

In theory you would be correct it technically should be faster fishing for pike. However the higher the level you are in fishing the greater chance you get of catching salmon over trout I believe so fly fishign should be faster.

Okay... Some constructive answers for a while :D

 

I fished about 71-76 in f2p doing fly fishing- I got about 4/10 trout and 6/10 salmon for 10k feathers. So pike should be more xp on average as you get more low-xp fish, but IMO feathers are cheaper than fishing bait (as im semi-quited I may not know the up-to-date data tho). Also I think fly fishing might be faster than baiting, but not 100% sure it's faster xp-wise.
