Now What? Bless his grave or get a free 30+m? <FREE TRADE UPDATE>
yaziyo replied to jjjon123's topic in General Discussion
I have a different perspective to a lot of people here, which I attribute to the fact that I've had an account since 2003 and I'm pretty much over Runescape as anything other than a game to have a look at once every couple of months. I'm in the category of those who found out "old" (normal) runescape was return Some of my fondest RS memories have involved the risk and rewards of death. As a noob in RS1 days, my first real equipment was some iron I looted when a guy died at the darkwizards. Being a noob was dangerous then, if something attacked you, you were stuck there for 3 rounds of combat and couldn't eat. Many a life were lost at the scorpion pits  Then RS2 came and people would randomly die due to random events. If someone had a golem (an arse-kicking), a river troll(an arse-kicking) or a swarm (a slow arse-kicking) and didn't know about it, there were good pickings to be had. The game is unbelievably safe now. Nothing can happen to you. I've been a free player for almost all of my time in RS. As a free player, pretty much the only way you can die outside of the wild is by being very low levelled, being a bot or lagging out and getting unlucky (you'd probably still survive). I would bless (well repair, I'm a free player :P ) the corpse of a noob because people being kind to you is nice. A decent player who died - meaning they're going to drop a bit of rune or something like that - that's up for grabs, makes the game fun! I remember early RS2 a guy in full rune dying at the lessers and having his corpse rushed. I missed out on the stuff but my mate got a rune Scim (this was back when almost everyone was still using their R2Hs from rs1) so it was legitimately useful :P If someone's so invested in this game to the point where dying hurts their feelings, you are doing them a favour by looting their corpse. Valuing the items in any game (I'm not talking about the people behind the characters, but the actual material you can lose or gain) as being anywhere close to having real impacts on your feelings and emotions is an illness as far as I'm concerned. Take those items away, they may have a tantrum but you're giving them a shot and not taking a game so seriously. That's a good thing. Someone compared it to cyber-bullying, that's just inane. Attacking someone online is cyber-bulling. Beating them in a game is not. Beating them in a game then PMing them taunting them is borderline. Beating them in a game then PMing them with real insults and threats which actively make them feel upset or uneasy, that's when you're cyberbulling. -
Because it still has use, to light a fire. And cooking on better logs would give you less chance of burning food, although I don't know if this is still the case.
-
Except when firemaking was introduced, you could only burn normal logs. It was introduced in a different time, when it was feasible to fish a load of fish, cut down a tree, burn the log, cook it and bank it. It was just an assist skill, with no reason to get it past level 30 or so. With RS2 Jagex thought they may as well do something with it so they just let you burn all logs.

Although it would be nice to have smithing become profitable once more, this would last for like a week and then the price of smithed goods would fall drastically too, leaving everything just cheaper. If this was to be implemeneted, there would need to be a massive new use for ores to counter-ballance the inevitable influx of supply. But as it is, a firm no.

This is a joke, right? A bunch of people complaining about letters...

The credit crunch refers to something different to the recession you are talking about. And I really doubt they introduced a security measure because of the recession. There is absolutely no link. They are looking into it because of the increase in phishing and other easily accessable account stealing techniques, which they have been cracking down on behind the scenes over the past year. EDIT: shifty, changing the title from credit crunch to recession :P nice to see that people read other's posts though

Water rusts iron. And It's scientifically proven to rust faster when there's a baby in the water.

This is quite an interesting thread, but you would really think twice about implementing this in your game unless you were trying to make a point or take a stance. I could see a gay character/couple feasibly be implemented in a future quest, where the homosexuality isn't the issue of the quest, but for a quest that consists of pretty much only meeting up with a partner, as that one does, it would seem like the character was made gay just because they wanted to make a point. And then again, you have games like The Sims where it's your choice to make your Sims straight, bi or gay and there's no issue, because it's made as an emulation of real life. If you want to bring up homosexuality in the game, you do so by not making it an issue, so that there is no focus on it and it is just a part of the game, or in life. Stance: Not for this quest, but gay characters could be feasibly implemented into the game otherwise. Religion: Unsure Orientation: Hetero And homosexuality has nothing to do with sex in life, just as hetersexuality doesn't either. You can be gay without having sex, just as you can be straight without having sex.

By the way, about your history, Runecrafting was released in 2004 at the same time that the RS2 Beta came out, making it the first RS2 quest and skill and the newest F2P quest and skill. And it took a good few years before RC running was thought of, with law running in world 66 one of the first occurances, giving good xp for crafters and good cash for runners, with a friendly environment.

Thanks for all who replied, even though noone actually answered my question. I did some trial myself and, in case anyone was wondering themselves, found that although pike if better XP per fish, speedwise trout and salmon are simply caught faster. And: No Also no. :)
-
Rune defender's not difficult, you're just fighting a monster for like an hour or so and you'll get it.
-
It's probably still cheaper than it was a few years ago, once inflation is taken into account. So think about it that way, you're probably saving money \

RS oldy here got a question on fishing efficiency. I'm fishing in barbarian village and I'm not quite sure, is Pike or Fly fishing faster XP? I know that trout are 50 and salmon are 70 while pike are 60, so pike averages out better per fish since you rarely get more salmon than trout, but in terms of speed of XP, what is the faster option? EDIT: Btw I have 77 fishing.

They don't wear out in the same way that barrows and the other fog pieces do, but if you buy from GE they will be worn out. You can save some time by buying from GE and then fixing using less fog points or you can simply play a bit more fog and buy them using only points. Either way, they're worthfile for f2pers and should then keep forever as long as you dont die wearing them
