boelie
Hi, When I start up my computer, go to youtube to find a song to put on, go on msn and play runescape at the same time, the first ten minutes or so of playing are fine. But after thatm, for some reason it just gets slower and slower to the point where after I click on something, nothing happens until about 2 seconds later. How come my computer is fast the first ten minutes and then becomes slow? Does something start running in the background? EDIT: It's been like this only for about a week. pryomancer
What browser are you using? Is this only happening on RuneScape or any page you try to load? It sounds like a memory leak, which is bascially when a programme doesn't remove memory it doesn't need anymore, so it builds up and up over time. Try reinstalling your browser, trying a different browser or updating your browser if possible. If it's only a RuneScape issue try reinstalling Java. boelie
I haven't noticed it on other websites, except sometimes when it gets slow on runescape, the song on youtube will skip a beat sometimes. I'm using firefox.
Dracion1
Could be you just don't have enough bandwidth to play RuneScape and stream video at the same time. How fast is your connection? You can check at http://www.speedtest.net. From experience, 512K is about the minimum required to run RS HD. "In the beginning, the universe was created. OldJoe
Do as Pryo says, try another browser (IE or Opera) and reinstall Firefox too. Try again. Might i ask which cpu, how much memory and which OS you got? boelie
That website tells me my download speed is 4.60 mb/s. I don't know if that's the data you were looking for. As for my memory and OS, I have 1 gb RAM and windows XP. EDIT: Wait. now it's telling me 5.13 mb/s. Strange. Oh and now it's 5.26.
Dracion1
Connection speed is fine, fluctuations like that are completely normal :). What about your CPU and graphics card? You can find these by going to run and typing "Dxdiag". RAM is a bit on the low side in today's standards, but I used to play HD and run other things with 1GB and other things (Norton AV for example) I never had any problems. It might be worth checking your CPU usage when playing. Rs is very CPU heavy, and high quality youtube videos are too. I'd reccomend updating your browser and java as suggested, if you haven't already done so. "In the beginning, the universe was created.
