How many runescapers does it take to fix a lightbulb?

50, 1 to screw it in and 49 to complain that it was better before.

flesh crawlers are good xp but at ur lvl ull get hit way to often. i trained my pure at monks:no need for food and you dont get hit... otherwise try minotaurs they give decent xp and with their iron arrows drops u can make some cash also.

I agree. This is probably your best option.

Flesh crawlers are Level 35 in the 2nd level of the SoS. They are found at the south east corner of the room.

Since you can afford lots of food, I recommend going there.

I recommend the following setup:

Helm: Iron Full Helm

Plate: Iron Platebody

Legs: Iron Platelegs/Plateskirts

Amulet: Power/Strength

Weapon: Rune Scimitar (Rune Longsword* if you beat D. Slayer with your pure)

Shield: Iron Kiteshield

Gloves: Safety Gloves/Iron Gauntlets**

Boots: Fighting/Fancy Boots

Ring: Explorer's Ring 3***

*At my level, I get more XP/Hour at Flesh Crawlers with Rune Longswords rather than Rune Scimitars (I have tested twice). Since you're a pure, you're better off using Rune Scimitars anyway, since you want to get rid of these guys as fast as possible (which means quick weapon kills). If you become a Rune Pure however, you're better off using Rune Longswords.

**Optional if you don't play Fist of Guthix.

***Optional if your pure doesn't skill. A must if you do, however.

I got a rune scimmy... And the explorer's ring 3 is too hard to get for a pure with no skills. :S And it doesnt give str any bonus lol :P

I got all that stuff, but i didnt know anything about the rune longsword.. ill try that out...

Thanks for posting. It was very usefull

If you want my advice, i'd just drop the pure aspect. I ain't going to flame you, but tell you that pures are great when its 1 vs 1 in pvp but more than that they die quite quickly. Especially against mages and rangers. Just making a suggestion.

That's the whole point. Fights that are quick and to the point are 10x better (imo) than fights that go on and on because of defence. And also at low levels the other person won't be hitting that much anyways. I agree with getting range and mage, but not defence for the time being.

But anyways, flesh crawlers are good. Use a rune scim though, since they've been tested (more than twice) to be better.

I'll just have to give my results for the 2 tests then. I used the "aggressive" style.

Test 1

Rune Longsword: 38k xp/hour

Rune Scimitar: 32k xp/hour

Test 2

Rune Longword: 40k xp/hour

Rune Scimitar: 35k xp/hour

This is mainly due to the flesh crawler's weakness of slash. But because you are 1 defence right now, rune scimitar does better.

1 speed bar could be the difference between you getting hit and you hitting. Speed is vital for pures, because 1 defence = getting hit painfully much. Since flesh crawlers are dart speed (7), your weapon must be fast as well, or else you will suffer constant "1's" (therefore you must get more and more food, lessening training speed).

If you are a Rune Pure (after beating D. Slayer), however, speed doesn't matter as much. The main reason why I got better exp with rune longswords is because they 2-hit the flesh crawlers more often than rune scimitars do (Flesh crawlers only have 25 HP). And since you will be a rune pure then, you won't get as much "1's", therefore you don't use up food as fast.

So, CowsEatsFood, 2 tests might not be THAT significant, but future tests might have results similar to this. I haven't tested with the other types of scimitar and longsword, and I haven't tested this on other monsters, but judging by this, rune longsword is the more viable option.
