April 26, 200917 yr I have a dell dimension e310 with an integrated intel 910gl graphics card. :( I was thinking of updating it, will this graphics card work: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814131082 Know of any better ones? I'm mainly looking to play team fortress 2 with it at the moment. Is my graphics card causing this problem: How can I fix this?
April 26, 200917 yr Mail Valve and check with them about the problem, but i'm guessing the problem is with the gpu. To put it simply, no it won't work as your computer uses pci-e x1 (closed slot) and thus it wouldn't work. Buy a new computer. Buying a pci-e x1 or pci graphics card would just be a waste of money. Edit: Eh not Valve, was thinking of Half Life 2 when i saw that pic lol. I could be wrong though, I'll open it up and look when I'm done using it sometime. How much better is a pci card (like that one) than my integrated one.

You would have to fork out about 40$ for a 8400gs or 2400pr pci... Which is a complete waste of money. The pci bus caps the performance so much. And pci-e x1 is better, but they are crap expensive. A pci card would perform better, don't know by how much (search around yourself) - not to repeat myself, but save the 40$ and save up more money for a new computer. If you had a pci-e 16 or agp slot it would be more price worthy. April 26, 200917 yr Author I didn't know if the difference between that card and my current one was worth the $40. Thanks for the advice, I guess it's not worth it. Too bad my computer doesn't have a pci e x16 slot. I'm thinking about building my own computer this summer, I guess I'll save for that....
April 26, 200917 yr Yep. You could build yourself a computer from scratch, which has good performance for around 400$. That, or an Xbox 360 i think is the most bang for the buck. Shame you ain't my neighbour lol, i've got a mobo that i don't use which is s775 (which your cpu uses) that i could sell for 10$ lol (which has pci-e x16). J'adore aussi le sexe et les snuff moviesJe trouve que ce sont des purs moments de vieJe ne me reconnais plus dans les gensJe suis juste un cas désespérantEt comme personne ne viendra me réclamerJe terminerai comme un objet retrouvé
April 26, 200917 yr Author I think I'm going to build it completely from scratch instead of making a Frankenbuild, so if something fails, I still have this computer. Is there any difference between a PCIe 2.0 x16 and a PCIe x16 besides twice as much bandwidth?
April 27, 200917 yr Nope, no real difference other than that. You can use pci-e x16 and pci-e x16 2.0 on both types of pci-e slots. Placing a 9800gtx+ in a pci-e x16 slot doesn't slow the card down, but when you get to a card like 4870x20 the x16 will slow it down a little bit, so in that case you want a 2.0 slot instead. April 27, 200917 yr In that screenshot, what detail mode are you running in? It looks very highly detailed - perhaps go down a little on the detail level until you replace your graphic card. 2257AD.TUMBLR.COM
