Anyway some process called lsass is running.. I cannot terminate it.. I read this is some kind of virus? Can it be responsible for blocking my internet? My dad complained to me that windows didn't reboot properly after he had updated while I was on holiday. Anyway when I came back I tried updating windows. Was the look of this page changed? it was for me. And are there windows updates that don't ask for a reboot ? :? Anyway, the good news is, that this is not my laptop and that tip.it is still working. Bad news I've got some work on there which needs a back up badly. It verifies the validity of user logons to your PC/Server (in technical jargon : it generates the process that is responsible for authenticating users for the Winlogon service). Recommendation : An integral part of the operating system, leave alone provided that its full path as shown in The Ultimate Troubleshooter is either C:\WinNT\System32\LSASS[Caution: ExecutableFile] (Windows 2000) or C:\Windows\System32\LSASS[Caution: ExecutableFile] (Windows XP/2003). magekillr Posted August 23, 2005 Share Posted August 23, 2005 same thing happened to me on my old machine that thing was...hell took forever to get rid of...cause after a while it would restart my computer 1 minute after i ran anything to get rid of it aka spybot, adaware, norton, freedom...the usual turned on safe-mode...deleted manually..but by then it multiplied so much...that i just reformatted :oops: best of luck 8) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
