August 26, 200520 yr For some reason the ingame music in rs recently stopped working for me, although the sound effects still do. Yes of course I have the music on and turned all the way up, and I know its not my speakers because I can hear the sound effects. I figure it has something to do with the thing that runs music on my comp because I have a hard time playing music while playing rs.
August 26, 200520 yr Check your settings to make sure the music if turned on then go to C:\WINDOWS\.file_store_32 and delete all the midi files. And try again. August 26, 200520 yr Only Internet Explorer supports RS sounds. Except he said they used to work, and sound fx still do. August 28, 200520 yr Author I tried deleting everything in the folder then reloading rs 3 times, but the music still doesn't work. I geuss it would be bad to just delete the folder itself?
August 28, 200520 yr Deleting the folder itself will do nothing. Ok going to post what jagex say about sound on the forum.. To check the general settings of your PC sound system please try the following: 1) Make sure your volume control is turned up and the speakers are on. 2) Try using a different web site that has sound, check to see if this is working. 3) Also try playing a CD. If everything else has sound apart from runescape please try the following. 1) You are going to need to locate media files of the type "midi". 2) Now try to open these files and see if your PC can play them.. 3) Do they work. If they work: - You are going to need to reinstall JAVA. - Please make sure you can here sounds from other online sources. - Contact us again if you are still having trouble If they do not work: - You are going to need to locate a "midi" compatible sound device. - Make sure you have compatible sound drivers for your sound card. If your technical difficulties continue, please contact the Support Team in particular read the bolded section If you have done all that then I suggest contacting Jagex with your problem.
August 28, 200520 yr Author This is probably a really dumb question, but how would I go about reinstalling java?
August 28, 200520 yr Author Well, I've tried everything suggested and it still doesn't work, thanks anyway guys. I don't think I'll bother Jagex about it because I'm not even p2p and the trouble it would take to get a response just isn't worth it. If no one else has a solution, then I'll just live with it.
