So I'm really interested in starting to play Dwarf Fortress, could you help point a newbie in the right direction, like some good tuts and other stuff?

So I'm really interested in starting to play Dwarf Fortress, could you help point a newbie in the right direction, like some good tuts and other stuff?

There's a good old 40d tutorial on Youtube by a dude called CapnDuck, I think. That's an old version, though - the new version has a ton more stuff. But that tutorial should keep you alive long enough to figure out stuff like beehives. Also, here's a trick: the D->B menu. For mass dumping/melting/forbidding. Also, I is a zone designation - use it to make a garbage dump, where anything you told to be dumped will be hauled.

 

Also, Bear, I didn't know that 403 errors were worse than a Storkbomb.
