So what did I miss?

Nothing.

I got stung by a wasp I think. My finger swelled up like a [bleep] for like 15 minutes, then it died down almost immediately after.

Cool.

Did you ever wonder if maybe we're the most advanced species in the Universe? Maybe one day other species will base their civilizations/ lifestyles off of us?

Doesn't matter, if any of them are at all similar to humans. If they're that advanced the space program's already been cut.

I do not know, but we are really not that advanced.

 

Besides, the way we look is accustomed to this planet. If life was on another planet they'd look drastically different.

@ Nex, If you're referencing the shuttle being cut, NASA is piggybacking off of private space corporations. They're already trying to make spaceflight cheaper so that one day you or I could go to space. I dunno why everyone's crying about NASA, they never intended to put the average joe in space.

I think we're the most advanced in our solar system. Then again, we haven't explored much of that either.

It's entirely possible, maybe even probable that there's more advanced species out there. But it's food for thought if we're the cutting edge. I'm also confident there's other life out there, even if not sentient.

 

@the equation, It really comes down to probability. If there's a one trillionth of a chance of a single celled organism on a planet, then big whoop, our own galaxy has billions of stars, with who knows how many planets, it's just bound to happen.

Edit: I understand that the chances are likely even more minuscule, I just didn't feel like going into it.

Best chance at life within our solar system? Europa.

That's the sulfur-y volcanic moon of Jupiter right? I think probably, even if only extremophile bacteria.

Wake me when we go back to the moon and do something worth noting in space.

Why can't we go back to the Moon now that we have better technology?

We don't have a rocket big enough. And it costs a lot of money.

Note how Defense comes in third for how much we spend on. And there was a lot of time in between the manned Moon missions and now where we didn't go. Space travel at the moment is just not economically feasible on a large scale. That's why companies like SpaceX are trying to make it cheaper, so we can do more, and they can get fantastically, ridiculously rich.

Exactly, so wake me when we do something notable in space.

Also, turns out that my street and one other street in town are the only streets with power on.

Blue Hill and the surrounding towns lost their power. I'm not sure why or how.
