They're criticizing continued fire on insurgents when they run into a private home. I imagine they want us to ask them nicely to come out while they take pot shots at us?

Damn, you're right. Forgot they don't have a right to stay in their own houses.

You know we should just give up every time terrorists or insurgents used human shields or hide in populated areas. Because they never do that you know.

And while you're at it, perhaps stop invading other countries would be a good idea.

Just saiyan'.

Throw out a guy who used chemical weapons against his own people, tortured loads of them. His sons go around with gangs and rape daughters and wives, who, in their culture are forever shamed. You're right, we're terrible people. Not to mention previously mentioned dictator had a nuclear weapons program.

Invade a country who was harboring the mastermind who attacked us. Throw out the oppressive government and search the country for him. But you're right we're just awful people.

A Johns Hopkins University study published in the medical journal Lancet in 2004 estimated

conservatively that 100,000 Iraqi civilians had been killed or died between the invasion in March

2003 and October 2004. The article argues: after the invasion violence was the primary cause

of death. Violent deaths were widespread, and were mainly attributed to coalition forces. Most

individuals reportedly killed by coalition forces were women and children. The risk of death

from violence in the period after the invasion was 58 times higherthan in the period before the

war . Given the dramatic increase in air attacks, surges in combat and sieges of cities since

that time, the number of civilians deaths now far exceeds that number.14 Further, the number of

people wounded during attacks is four to six times the number killed.

One reason for the huge numbers of civilian casualties under the U.S. occupation is that U.S.

soldiers have often behaved as if they have been told to shoot anything that moves. As noted in

the Christian Science Monitor: The rules of engagement instruct U.S. soldiers to bring

withering force to bear on positions they're attacked from, even when an insurgent ducks into a

private house for cover . However, many NGOs have attested that private homes and

persons who are clearly civilians are attacked without any possible excuse that a particular attack

was directed at insurgents.

You're more likely to be killed when there's a war on. GEE!

I've already addressed then ducking into a private house. What do you want us to do. Knock on the door and ask them to come out?

If you've got suggestions I'm sure we'd love to hear em.

Man I tell you what, its pretty damn hard to not get a civilian killed in a city that is fully populated that you're trying to invade.

But didn't you just say you went to take down a dangerous dictator who was hurting the civilians? And then you... start hurting the civilians even more yourself?

Can't tell if you're being sarcastic here or something, but when insurgents deliberately use them for cover, yeah I'd say it is.

I did. I'd like to know how they got their pre-war violence deaths facts. I'm sure they kept accurate records of all the people who were arrested and never to be seen again. I wonder if they counted all the Kurds he killed using chemical weapons? I'm sure if he'd gotten control of nuclear weapons he would have been responsible. You know it's not like he would have used them on any nearby state *coughIsrael*cough*.

Edit: On a less confrontational note. I understand what you're saying Napalm, yes it's bad when civilians are killed (understatement there) but there's no feasible way around it without a large cost in our own lives. if you know of one, like I said, share it.

Throw out a guy who used chemical weapons against his own people, tortured loads of them. So we can use non-chemical weapons and torture them ourselves. His sons go around with gangs and rape daughters and wives, who, in their culture are forever shamed. Our soldiers rape women and humilliate prisoners. You're right, we're terrible people. Not to mention previously mentioned dictator had a nuclear weapons program. But it's fine! We have nuclear weapons too, but we promise not to use them!

Invade a country who was harboring the mastermind who attacked us. Throw out the oppressive government and search the country for him. Install our goverment there, set up military bases and take ther oil. But you're right we're just awful people. We're not!

It's a given that wars are gonna have bystander casualties, but don't act like a hero because you took a photo rescuing one guy you shot yourself, just that.
