Vyrewatch

I've recently completed logging 500 Vyrewatch kills for a guide I'm working on, and I decided to post the log here since it could help update the site's Vyrewatch drop lists.

 

 

 

First, however, I noticed several inconsistencies between the different Vyrewatch drop lists. The drops should all be the same among the variants, as the item rewards come from cremating the Vyre corpses on a pyre, rather than being dropped directly by the NPCs. Because of this, I've prepared a "master list" of sorts by compiling the information from all of the Vyrewatch variant entries.

When I cremated my first 500 Vyres a week or so after Legacy of Seergaze was released (I'm an avid trekker, so the flail was a godsend), I remember getting several more pages and one or two pieces of the trimmed armours. Ahh well, I just wish that I had recorded those drops as well. :lol:

My guide will cover the Temple Trekking/Burgh de Rott Ramble and Pyre Minigames and will also include a section on what I call the "Restoration" activities (using Serums 207/208 and Guthix Balance Potions). I have most of the information saved to my computer, but I'd like to be able to incorporate a few logs into my guide. Unfortunately, I'm lacking in these, so that's what I'm working on now. :|

 

 

 

Anyway, good luck with your Vyre slaying; it's a great activity which just doesn't seem to garner the attention it deserves. That's actually the main reason why I've been writing this guide--maybe other players will realize how amazing some of these neglected Minigames are once I finish it. :pray:

I know the crew has special guides for special beasts and that they're interested in some of the information on the Ramble/Trek minigames. If you check out the main WUC forum, you'll probably see some submissions that need confirmation.

 

 

 

Anyone can help do stuff like that, not just crew. It's how I've supplemented my game play....trying to be helpful...like I have seen you do!

EDIT: The crew does check the boards quite often, so I'm sure they'll see your posts. I don't know if they'd want a separate guide, since it's closely tied to the Temple Building minigame. Personally, I think this is one of the parts of the site that could use expanding, especially since great rewards do exist with little risk (if using my prayer technique in a high 110 Vyrewatch yield spot). I was going to post drop logs that I have, but you've asked me not to...

Now that you've mentioned it, though, I think I would rather work on the site guides. It would certainly be more lasting than a user guide posted in the AoW, and I'd have the benefit of working with dedicated and more trustworthy people. If a Crewbie reads this, could you tell me how I should go about it? Would I simply create a thread devoted to revamping a particular guide and use that as the base-of-operations? If so, I could probably prepare the information I've already gathered and have it somewhat presentable within a day or two. My only concern is that, with the relative inactivity of this board, not much would be accomplished. I'm also a bit nervous to reveal a WIP to the general public, but I can get over that. :P

I'll prepare my data and post it in a couple days, and we'll (along with anyone else interested) work on it from there. While the Crew may not be interested in a composite guide, there's still quite a bit of room for improvement in the pre-existing site guides. So, by working on the guide here, it'd be possible to update the site and prepare the user guide for release in the AOW at the same time. :D

You didn't put me off...no worries. I do get excited when others find the same parts of the game amusing as I do, but that's about all that it was.

 

 

 

The Archive of Wisdom does have a guide, but looking at it, it looks a little out-of-date, or something.

One of the things I think is missing from most guides I've seen (and I've done only limited research since you posted here) is the difference for rewards based on type of pyre log used.

 

 

 

I don't think anyone wants to waste 50 Vyrewatch remains on Teak pyre logs...or anything other than magics.

 

 

 

That drop log I mentioned might not be of any use to you in any other case, since I can't burn magic pyres yet. Suffice it to say, I haven't gotten many unbelievable drops...unless it has nothing to do with the rewards (which I'd think it would).

 

 

 

I'll just wait for your information to be posted and comment then and there. I think we're in agreement that the old guides are in need of update.

I have taken out the drops form all the vyrewatches bestiary entries and instead put add your corrections (and some of my own) to here. There not on the site atm but they should be up soon.

And, as a general note to anyone who's been following this, I'll need a day or two more before I post my Minigame conglomerate guide information. Even for a WIP, it's still quite messy, and so I'll need a bit more time. I'm happy to report that the Temple Trekking/Burgh de Rott Ramble portion, at least, is coming along nicely. So that's good news; it is, after all, the crown jewel of the project. ;)
