"Contact!" difficulties...

*First post here, go me!*

Well, to make a long story short... I'm stuck on the scarab at the end of "Contact." I've burned through so much food and a few rings of life already, but I can hardly get him down 1/2 way.

My stats:

73 HP

72 Attack

73 Strength

72 Defense

Gear:

Torag's Armor set (minus hammers)

Glory amulet

Abyssal Whip

Ring of Life

Obsidian Shield

So, does anyone have any suggestions? I'm really stumped. I've tried a few different method, but this is the one that seems to work the best.

I know this will sound counter-intuitive but try wearing a mix of good range/melee defensive gear while using magic as your weapon and praying against your weakest combat skill. Use one of the high-hitting spells like Iban's Blast (?) from a distance while wearing full rune, for example.

Edit: And of course use the best stat boosting potions you can get your hands on.

Alright, I'll give it another go first thing tomorrow. Thanks for the advice.

Good luck! It took me many, many trials to beat this quest but the strategy I outlined worked best in the end.

I think there was a "safe spot" which wasn't really completely safe, only safe from the minions...I ended up only having to fight the big beastie itself and with prayer, managed to take care of him. I believe there are places on the net that can show you what I'm writing of...

Pot up on mage potion and defence potion and Mage the sucker from several squares away. He can only mage or range you from there.

Good Luck
