This is a problem i've had for a while, but is getting a lot worse recently.

 

 

 

between loading screens while playing RS(Mostly happens when i log out, keep the log in screen up, then log in later) the game screen will go black. Then i have to reset the page. This becomes really annoying after resetting my game screen every half hour.

 

 

 

Another thing i've noticed that i think is related. When i extend my minimized icons on the bottom right of the screen, there will be over 4 java icons. Sometimes up to 10 of them. But then the menu quickly retracts, and when you extend it again, there will be one less icon. This will happen until it reached one again.

 

 

 

I think somehow java reloads without closing the previous one once i reload the game screen. If this is the case, then that explains why my computer has been going crazy slow lately.

 

 

 

...How would i go about fixing this? I tried re-installing java, and that didn't help.

The problem happens in Firefox. But now I'm using swiftkit because i can't stand this problem, and seeing if it stops happening in SK. Which i think uses a version of IE. But SK has it own problems: i keep getting a script error message.

If it just happens with firefox then try reinstalling it or better yet download opera, which(imo) is a much better browser.

I'm going to revive this post because it's still happening. And with SK now. Which uses a version of IE.

1. Reinstall java.

 

2. Try this game and see if it does the same thing.

 

3. Delete the jagex cache found at c:/windows/.jagex_cache_32.

If you do this you can get into a whole world of pain. Try installing JDK, which just slots itself into Java, and actually helped me at one point with a problem like this.

 

 

 

Incase you're wondering what pain you'll get into, I had to reconfigure all of my Java related PATHs, which is a pain in the hole. :wall: :wall: :wall:

With deleting the cache, do i delete the folder, or just whats in it?

He speaks truth. It'll just take a few seconds longer for RS to load again, then normal service will be resumed.

I've got this same problem. I'm going to ask Jagex whether or not it's happening from their end, or if it's just Firefox.

Mod Jod confirmed that it was an issue with Firefox. Make sure you have the latest version (3.5). I believe it's fixed in this one. I don't know why Firefox didn't automatically update for me, but I believe it fixed the problem.
