k00ldud95
I recently created a topic here about the possibility that blocked ports were preventing me from loading runescape, but other possibilities have arisen. I would call my customer suppport for all the problems I have, but most of them are simply repeating the same possibilities that have already been eliminated, making up nonsensical excuses ( "firewalls can't block ports"), or trying to flat out pitch products to me when I ask questions. When I try to run Runescape, it is aburdly slow to load. it can take as long as an hour. When I finally enter my information(i press the keys and about five minutes later the letters appear in the username box) and click log in, the little black box in the upper left corner says "loading". A few minutes later it might say "Internet disconnected" even though it is not disconnected. then it cycles back to loading. The process continues forever. If you were here with me, you could see that it is so slow that it probably isn't simply an issue of lagging, but it could be. I honestly don't know what I am doing, I am just making guesses. I quit playing runescape later on in the month of may, and I moved to a new town in later June. I primairily used WiFi internet before but now I use cable. I tried running runescape with their most basic offer package, but it was as I described above. I ordered the package that doubled my speed, but there was no change at all (even though an online test confirmed that my speed was doubled). I feel this confirms my suspicion that it is not related to my internet speed, but are there other factors assciotated with my ISP that could be causing this situation? I temporarily disabled my firewall and runescape still wouldn't load. I also shut down an expired trial of Norton internet security that my computer cannot seem to uninstall. my comp does not use a router, only a modem, but I did try reseting it( it had no effect) i think I have done everything that I possibly could to unblock ports. I am now considering uninstalling Windows Defender, as i have already turned it off and RS Still didn't work. Are there any other features that could be blocking ports? Do viruses or worms block ports? Anyway, that is about as detailed as i can get at the moment. if you need further details to help me, I'll try to give them to you. :twss: Nechs require 80 Slayer and their main drop is cheap 50k rune boots. Shazarabbit
Moved to Tech & Computers. Just remember that you just need to report the topic you don't need to rename the topic OR post with all capitals. :D Hopefully this will get solved. Sbrideau
When you said expired Norton, That's what made me think that it might be the thing causing the problem here. You're going to need the Norton removal tool or the tool that Clare posted on some other topics, I can't seem to find the link back.
Fwut
sbrideau may be right, I remember having Norton software. Dark... dark... days... :uhh: Well, anyways, run this shiz from Symantec. It worked for me a few years ago. Hopefully it should work for you. http://service1.symantec.com/Support/ts ... 3108162039
aspokaspofkjsopfkapo
If those tools aren't working for you then load windows in safe mode, go into the program files and delete the Norton folder(s). Then type "msconfig"(no quotes) in run(win key + r). Look in the startup and services tabs and disable any listings that say have to do with Norton. Air on the side of caution and do not disable anything saying Microsoft.
