Smithing + Magic Question.

Recommended Posts

[/Life]Okay, so my friend is 78 Magic and he's recently brought up the question of how to train magic, he doesn't post much on the forums so I'm gonna ask here.

[Life]

He's 78 Magic and he said he'd Ice Burst Rock Lobster's 'til he's 80 Magic, How much would that cost in theory? and how much more effective is Alching, money-wise?

At 80, thinking of String Jewelry to 86 to do Plank Make? Which is most cost efficient? What are the XP rates like? Things like this he wants to know.

Thanks for reading, leave any questions if you need to ask me anything, I'll be on for a while, and thanks in advance for answers. <3:

~~~~
Quick added question! Bonus round! \'
I want to get 70-74 Smithing on my account (In Sig) and would like to know what's the most effective thing to do, money-wise and XP wise, I don't wanna spend hours doing it, but I hate SC, with a passion, so I'll just spend more time smithing, fine by me.
Thanks again. 7 and a half points and a cookie for bonus question.
I would like to get the most difficult 99 in the game to accomplish. which is woodcutting.
because I had a drunken night in philadelphia and sprayed a fire extinguiser, evacuated a 7 story hotel on the philly stadium, spent the night in jail.. then got on level 2 prob & have to pay 50 a month because I have a job. It's their way of collecting more money out of me.
I like bonuses so I'm gonna go there >.>
What you can do is smith mith bolts at the blast furnace. You bring noted mith and noted coal to the blast furnace world and pay the dwarf to unnote ores for you so that you can smith them into stackable mith bolts so that you never have to bank. If you sell all the mithril bolts with the current middle GE prices it's looking like only a 32gp loss per bar (so the SC hammer would be advisable, but you said you didn't want to, which is still okay).
Combat 116+; Total 1900+; All Hard Tasks; (Nearly) All quest points; (Nearly) All skills 60+; An aquatic moose ninja.
Currently: Using 63 hunter to get some of those "Chins", then I'm going to range stuff down. Interruptions of agility when I feel like it, as well.
And lucky enough to get 4 Dragon and 6 Barrow Drops.
[hide]Kwimbob now looks exactly like me in real life except for hair color. Yes, this means I look exactly like the protagonist of that certain anime that my second character, Faye_V is also named after. Yes, I bought a jacket that also looks like his. No in real life I don't have a slain bear to sling over my shoulders. Yes, I'm that skinny even if I no-life it for years in basements. No, I can't shoot a gun. Yes, I can win any other strategic video game you have never played - because I probably have, ahahaha. And yes, I also have brown eyes, yet one of my eyes looks different from the other. And yes, I'm completely oblivious to the [real] world around me as I constantly engineer new solutions to daily problems in my head. When I get hungry, all that isn't food can wait. When I'm sleepy - nothing is of any priority in front of sleep. But at any other time, I never slow down. Never give up. Never Surrender. Makes for a good life.
I've never tried the Blast Furnace, any options that I can just smith at a normal Anvil? Or even smelting?
Edit:
I'm not really a mini-game type. :P I'd rather just smith something in my own time then have to do things like Stealing Creation or Blast Furnace.
Yeah nevermind on that, you've gotta be 60 to use the anvils and there's a fee for exiting, can't do this yet. But note at 60 that on the Blast Furnace world you don't have to participate in the mini-game at all (low leveled people like to get the off tasks' exp) and you get to halve the cost of all the coal and it's quite fast. But yeah, people would probably suggest the gold gauntlets are an option: expensive but fast. An old method was steel plates to alch them, but that's probably far outdated and wasteful, lemme check the pricings.
Thanks for the help so far, I'm trying to look into it, I used to do Iron Knives when I was poor because somehow they made a nice profit, though the prices have probably changed, I'll check again in a second.
I can't remember exactly what I read, but probably something about Iron Platebodies? Because of the fact that they're 5x faster than knives and stuff, and there's nothing else really good up to Mithril Platebodies. Maybe Mithril Bolts? Not sure. :P
im currently doing gold with goldsmith gaunts for 71-75 and its going to cost me 2.2m when i checked prices today and mith was over 2 times more loss then gold aslong as u sell/craft the bars
I might do that actually, that's 3.2m going from 54 to 70, seems a bit much though. -checks current prices for inflation-
Okay, yeah, steel plates are a miss. For gold gauntlets it would cost over 600k to get just from 54-60, but that would be quick.
I'd also heard Iron knives before. I checked the prices and it looks like a profit of 80gp per bar if you smelt the iron with rings of forging and then smith the bars into iron knives, sounds good! You would just want a confirmation that iron knives do in fact get bought off the GE still. Iron plates would smith 5 times as fast, yes, but it's looking like a 36gp loss per bar, but that's only assuming that iron plates could sell on the GE for their price, and I see no reason that they would.
Ah, all of this is really annoying me, before this 76king crap was about, iron knives easily made profit even with bars bought. :wall:
I should've just got it over and done with when it wasn't bad money. xD
I'll just do it the fast way, I'm going to smith gold ore with gauntlets, and lose a few mill, I guess it'd save alot more time that way, and with the time saved, I can do things like Slayer or skilling. ::'
Thanks for all of the help, it's really... well, helped me out. <3:<3: I know what I'm gonna do know, thanks again.
~~
Still looking for some answers with the Magic though. #-o
if you dont want to spend that much and don't mind it taking longer do iron knives smelt iron ore with ring of forgeing and make into knives but this would be quite slow as you would need around 15.5k iron ores to get to 70 but you would profit if you do mith bolts you would loose 7m gold overall is best i think its good speed and decent cost
Yeah, that's what I've decided to do now, it's a good balance of cost and time, and since time is money, the extra time saved will probably be enough to make it all back. ::'
Now, the magic question, any suggestions? I've never used those Lunar spells, so I can't give any advice to my friend, but it'd be a lot of help if had some suggestions.
The main reason is, we both get bored of things quickly, so he's gonna train mage in the bank while I smelt. :)
