Combat Familiars

Well after ~300k xp at Armoured Zombies boredom got me.I'll go back to slayer, trying to bank 10m worth of runes through slayer points.Let's get back to the matter at hand.I'm 88 summoning(enough charms banked for 92, banking 96 then getting the actual level) and I was wondering what are some good combat familiars that you recommend using/you are using(be it for att/str/def/mage).Please don't mention geyser, as I am 99 range already.Thanks.

Well I'm also at 88 and i use a Lava Titan on some tasks. It gives strength exp. Before i used a Fire Titan and that one gave magic exp. I'm 99 Att, but i believe that a Swamp Titan gives attack exp. You can always check that. I hear that the Wolpertinger is good for magic as well, and since its a small familiar it is very useful.

As for Def i don't know that one. There area few that give def exp but they don't seem worth it to use them.

You should probably be using either a Spirit Dagannoth, Lava Titan, or Swamp Titan. The Dagannoth's max hit is 16, but it sometimes does a double attack, and it trains controlled, as well as being the only one of the three to have a relevant scroll attack. The Lava Titan's max hit is 14, but it occasionally adds an extra 5-damage splat to its attacks, and it trains strength. The Swamp Titan's max is 16, it trains attack, and you may already be making the pouches for your summoning training. I've never used any of them and I have no idea which will be the best, but probably one of those. (And if you really wanted to train magic, it would be a fire titan.)

Oh yeah, I forgot, the Rune Minotaur has a max of 16 and a scroll attack that maxes 19, trains defence, and is notable as having a ridiculously long timer--it lasts for 2.5 hours before vanishing. Two Rune Minotaur pouches last longer than five Swamp Titan pouches.

Hey 2noob ::'

Really, the best would be the Moss/Fire/Ice titans (training strength/magic/attack respectively). Sure there are better fighters, but none of those fighters double as healers. Titans heal more hp/hour than bunyips, making them extremely useful for slayer. In fact, the elemental titans are the only familiars that can fight AND heal (unless you count Beasts of Burden, but they aren't doing the actual healing). I used them all the time.

However, on same tasks Combat familiars are simply overkill and it is not worth having to make those extra clicks. Dust Devils, for example. I normally just bring a bunyip. I 3-4 hit most of them anyway (if I repot every 5 mins) so there is no need for a titan to do anything else.

Minotaurs are decent fighters if you are after defense xp, although Rune Minotaur is rather expensive for what it is worth.

Thanks guys and 'ello zaaps.I've checked the prices and seeing as the titan scrolls are 1/10 of most titan pouches I just bought some spirit dagannoth pouches(if 1k can be called some).I also have guthans so if I won't be able to keep up with the healing (using sgs/p'apple pizzas) I'll just swap the help/whip when needed.Thanks once again.

i personnaly think wolperingers are really really good. waaaaaay better then anything else up to that point.

Id personnaly use the charms now, then bank till yak.

it hits mage based (best type of exp to earn imo) and since its mage based it hits more often on most monsters. its already very accurate as is, and maxes at 22 damage

I find even at dusties they were good. Its all about tactic, attack a dusty, get familar on it, attakc a new dusty. your familar will always attack the dusty you are after its killed its last one, so at that point attack a new one.

Its more effort, but not very hard to have you and the familar be attacking non stop. this can really speed up exp/task time.

The only thing is it really helps to have an sgs in this situation as you dont have a healer, and your taking twice the hits. Later on with iron/steel titans the defense boost comes in handy.

Ive personnaly seen a wolper take down a black demon in 8 hits
