I'd personally spend about 1m on shards then trade the pouches in when ever you need more, repeat this until you need to buy more.

O and atm its not worth the hassle buying pouches to trade in for shards as the current best for anyone under 79 is over 24 per shard.

[hide=Drops]

  • Dragon Axe x11
    Berserker Ring x9
    Warrior Ring x8
    Seercull
    Dragon Med
Dragon Boots x4 - all less then 30 kc
    Godsword Shard (bandos)
    Granite Maul x 3

Solo only - doesn't include barrows[/hide][hide=Stats]

What I'm saying is buy a chunk of shards then once they run out trade any you can back. Rinse and repeat, but depending on your starting shards you might need to buy more (since you need to be a % higher level then the pouch to trade them back).

Means if you was planning on buying pouches from the GE to trade for shards then the best is about 24.4gp/shard atm. Which considering the hassle (takes a while to buy the pouches) its not worth the 0.6gp saved.

The calculator assumes you can and will trade in every pouch. Most gold charm familiars arent worth trading in for a start and you also have to be above the level required to make a pouch to be able to swap it.

Oh and I dispute the argument that it's not worth buying pouches to trade in. Even if they work out to 24.6 gp per shard if you need 200k shards you would be saving 80k gp.

But to get the 1k or so pouches you have to wait about 12 hours for them all to sell (without you buy above mid then its even less of a saving).

In this 12 hours he could have 68 summoning and be using war tort or bunyip straight away saving more then the 80k extra it cost.

Its only really worth doing if you can get them for 23 or less otherwise your tying up GE space (considering half of the time the best pouches are hard to buy, so you need to spread the load out) and losing out on using the extra summoning levels right away.

I've never had problems buying pouches almost instantly off the GE.

Perhaps it just depends which ones you are trying to buy.
