Fight Caves Help

Featured Replies

Do I have the stats to effectively do the Fight Caves? I have Guthan's, I have crystal bow, I have a god cloak and unholy book. Is 71 Ranged too low? And should I get higher prayer?

Thanks for your help.

Sorry double post. Mods could you lock one of the threads please?

Yes it's very possible, it just might take more than one try.

I'd really suggest getting a higher prayer level though.

Your equipment should be fine, stats and equipment aren't really the things that get you your fire cape. I've attempted fight caves four times in my time playing runescape, three in the last two weeks. And finally, yesterday I got my first fire cape. My stats may give me a little more leeway to make mistakes, but the main thing you'll want is calmness and alertness. The waves proceeding jad are really simple if you relax and carefully take out monsters one at a time, usually with others unable to attack you. Once you are at jad, you need to be very careful, but relaxed at the same time, because you want to be able to switch your prayers one step ahead of his attacks. If you get to nervous of the thought that he'll kill you, that can cause you to mess up and die. If anything, you should practice your prayer switching, by itself and while eating or attacking monsters. That way you will be able to focus of jad and his attacks and be able to drink your potions and distract the healers.

Also, what bow should I use (I think I have the magic/range pray flashing down, but not with monsters attacking).

Crystal bow is fine but if you use that you need to take two.

It's down to personal preference. Crystal bow shoots further, but karil's crossbow hits faster. They do about the same damage I think; I can't quite remember. You could also try rune crossbow with broad bolts with a shield or prayer book. The rune crossbow hits much harder than the previous two bows. I forgot about the speed of the rune crossbow though, it might be the same as crystal bow.

Also, make sure you utilize your long range attack style in some situations.

Using a Rune Crossbow...

Are ruby bolts (e) useful for Jad or should I not bother as his HP isn't that high?

What bolts are useful for regular ranging, broad bolts, or what?

When I attempted the caves with a rune crossbow, I just used broad bolts for the whole thing. I can't really say how effective ruby (e) bolts would be. If you use them with another kind of bolt, it may be detrimental to be switching ammunition during the fight with jad.

I wouldn't use Ruby Bolt (e) on Jad, I've been redbarred on Jad several times, you don't want to kill your self.

I know accounts who've done the Fight Caves with lower stats than you. It's more a matter of concentration and tactics than of brute force. It would probably help to practice switching prayers to a Youtube video before you actually fight Jad.
