Regicide Timesaver: Charter Ship

Recommended Posts

Hi.

I've just completed the Regicide Quest and found a trick not mentioned in the guide, but which should perhaps be added. Presumably no one though of this. It worked for me and saved a lot of time.

After going to the Chemist to and creating the Barrel Bomb one must assemble the required items to "17- Head back through the underground pass..." and then go through that tedious and time consuming process all over again.

Instead one can take the barrel bomb, tinderbox, hatchet for cutting a tree, weapon to kill the rabbit, antipoison, teleport runes and food,

and go charter a ship in Port Sarim, which will take you to Port Tyras and the Tyras Camp.

Ship Charter for this cost me 1600 Gold (or 800 with Ring of Charos), but it's more if you haven't completed Cabin Fever (3200 according to tip.it getting around guide).

Additionally, If you have Explorer Ring 3, the Cabbage-Port function is a convenient way to reach Port Sarim.

I hadn't tried sailing to Port Tyras before but I was aware of that option after having chartered a ship to Port Phasmatys. The guide says Port Tyras isn't available before Regicide, but its clearly available after the start of the quest.

Tell me what you think.

Sandor

Oh wow, I never even thought of that, I hated that quest so much just because I had to go through the pass so many times (especially when I messed up the tar thing at the chemists).

But I thought you had to complete catapult construction to use that ship?

As far as we know (and especially because jagex says so), you need to complete regicide before using it. I guess we'd need a pic showing your quest list as red or yellow ... I don't know how we'd prove you went on the ship. :P

it's a lot easier to get over yourself when you look at intelligence the same way you look at beauty, or height, or eye color: being smart is easy, but being good is hard ... being smart is handed to you, being good is handed to *nobody*.

make two pics, one showing the charter ship screen, and one showing that you haven't finished the quest.

You have to take off everything except your gloves and boots. WTF JAGEX?

Don't forget about the ring, you can keep that one to :)

And your necklace.

And quiver! This is fun :P!

...or one picture with the quest tab open when you've got the chatbox open to where it asks if you'd like to pay for the trip...maybe?

i have got a screen shot but don't know how to get it onto the post

First, you must upload it to a file share site. The one I use is imageshack and until recently, I shared access to a free account with a friend. It costs no money, whatsoever.

There, you have to upload a photo, then by viewing the photo on the site you should be able to find code...an address or link which will direct a website to that image.

Here on the new forums, there is a button called "Insert image" that you need to click, then copying and pasting that code (address link) there will get you the image on this site.

As a courtesy, it might be nice to include "hide tags" on the picture, like so:

  [hide="your text here"][img=http://"yourimagehere"][/hide]

The hide is so that pictures that are extremely large don't HAVE to be viewed, but upon a simple click can be loaded up. "your text here" can be changed to anything you want, but I use it as a caption. "yourimagehere" is the actual address to the link you get after uploading your image to a file sharing site.

I know there are other places to use and other places on this site to find information, but I hope that helps you.

[pokemama edit: okay this looks like a person needs to *start* the Regicide quest but does not have to *complete* it. Wonder if you can take the ship the first time or only after going thru the underground pass at least once. For now, a crewbie will need to update the Getting Around Guide to note this requirement is to "start" the quest. Thanks for making the picture and you will receive credit.]

Thanks gnat for the proof pic, that is AWESOME!!

We've finally been able to lay this to rest, after many players inquiring.

This has been added to the Regicide quest guide, and to the Getting Around Guide as well.

gnat, you have been credited in both guides, and Sandorsandor as well.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
