Auto-Retaliate

Auto-retaliate... Doesn't that mean that you automatically retaliate to combat? I [bleep]in wish.

I get attacked by someone, but because i was following someone else... Even though i have auto-retaliate on, it doesn't [bleep]ing auto-retaliate. Seriously, what kind of bull [cabbage] is that...

Can you confirm that the reason you didn't retaliate was because you were following someone? That is to say, are you sure there isn't another factor that prevented you from attacking back?

My auto-retaliate never activated while following people, either. And I almost always have it on. I've never really thought anything of it, but it doesn't really seem to make sense to me. Oh well, I can take a few hits.

Actually I love this about follow+auto-retaliate. when running through the wild with a group, and you get attacked by a rev, you won't run away from the group and lose food, and/or pots needed for KBD or the Chaos ele.

*edit*

I have no clue how this post ended up on this thread, I clicked reply to the mage rant thread, and somehow when I clicked 'post reply' it ended up here. To bad there's no delete post option on this forum. Maybe a mod could do it if he happens by here?

But if you didn't want to run away from them, why not turn your auto-retaliate off in the first place?

Laziness :(

I actually think the follow and auto-retaliate thing is better.

If you're with a clan, you want to follow the leader, and not get distracted by monsters/players that get in the way.

That's why Jagex implemented the Auto retaliate off option.

It's an annoyance to turn it on and off every single time though...

It's probably just me, since I always keep auto retaliate on so that I can automatically kill the monsters that try to attack me. I'm lazy.

Annoyance because it isn't set up that way. If it was, it would be just another thing burned into your brain.

Is it that hard to click on the guy manually?

Tha's not the point. Auto-retaliate, you would think, means it cancels any other action to fight back. But it doesn't cancel following. And that doesn't make much sense to me, nor the OP.

It's called priority tiering. Getting attacked doesn't break follow because of the examples listed above.

Yea, you pretty much summed up the double standard that is this thread.

"I don't want to have to click! You should have to click, and if you don't want to it's because you're lazy, but totally not because I'm lazy."

You can turn off auto-retaliate, whereas creatures/other players aggression has no button to toggle it. The priority should be on the one which can be turned off, in my opinion (since if you don't want it to activate you can turn it off). It doesn't really affect me, anyway, but it never made much sense.
