Anyone use blip.fm?

In short, it's like Twitter for music. You "blip" (i.e. tweet) a song that comes to mind, and it will be added to your profile. You can listen to "blips" by clicking them. You can send messages to other users, search users by their music taste, create playlists from your blips, etc.

It's an excellent way to quickly try new music, as well as share and expand your own music library.

If you've got a profile, post it! Here's mine:

Y'know, you can tweet the songs you're listening to.

I might join. :D

Edit: To be honest, I think it's a little bit stupid.. Oh well.

I've seen people I follow on Twitter use it. It's nice to be able to listen to the song then and there that they want people to listen to. But I myself haven't signed up for it or really used it beyond hearing what's shared with me.

Heh, that's how I feel about Twitter.

And blip.fm is basically (the music version of) Twitter, so you should think that blip.fm is stupid too. :P

Blip.fm is inspired by Twitter, but it uses the idea of "tweeting" to serve a very different purpose: massive online music sharing. The two sites are completely different.

With blip.fm, each user acts as a "DJ" to their own "radio show", so to speak. The ease of searching by music taste and following/messaging other DJs makes it an incredible site for music enthusiasts. In the short time that I've been using blip.fm, I've already found plenty of great new albums and artists that I wouldn't have otherwise.

Twitter is a stupid site, but the idea behind it has opened the gates for a wealth of potentially useful services -- e.g. sharing music, art, food recipes, games, books, or what have you.
