iPod -> Computer

Today I came home to find that my cousin had given my youngest brother his old iPod nano. My brother isn't really big into music yet, but when he listens, he probably isn't going to want music that's still on the iPod.

 

Now, I don't really want to just throw away all this music, and I know that iTunes is completely paranoid about sharing music, but is there any way that I can get the files from the iPod onto my computer?

 

Note that my cousin's music is mostly downloaded or cds - probably more mp3 rahter than iTunes' protected mp4.

 

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks a lot - but one question on that.

 

3 methods are mentioned, two downloads and showing hidden files. Which one would be best ? I'm thinking just showing hidden files should be well enough.

If you want to go from iPod to Computer I really recommend Yamipod (http://www.yamipod.com), it's free and lets you transfer more than one file. I've used it myself before (and I'll be needing to use it again, my iPod is like a backup of my music for when my external fails).
