Rocktail

Featured Replies

I have 99 fishing. I usually train fishing by Otto, and I think this is still the fastest exp (Am I right?). I need a bit of money, and I've never fished for Rocktail before, so I have a few questions.

1) How much exp/hour can you expect to ear there with 99 fishing and a granite lobster?

2) How many Rocktail/hour can you catch at 99 with a granite lobster?

*Rates at slightly lower levels (95ish+) will do :/*

3) Are there any safespots, or do you constantly have to be on the look out for the rock monster things down there?

4) Are the living minerals required for fishing Rocktails easily buy-able on the ge?

5) Do you only catch Rocktails, or do you also catch the cavetail things?

If you're one of those idiots with 50 fishing who is always saying "u shood du shilo cuz it r faster den barb cuz i cut da feesh n i r rite n i no it r faster even dow u sey it aint", please go away.

I would appreciate it if you actually knew what you were talking about (tested it yourself), rather than spitting out random false statistics to boost your post count.

Thanks :D

Only 97 Fishing, so I'll skip the first two.

3) There are safespots, but as the fishing spots move, you're not guaranteed to find an appropriate fishing spot in a safe place all the time.

4) They used to be a few weeks ago, when a friend bought them. Otherwise, they are not that slow to get yourself.

5) You only catch Rocktails in Rocktail shoals (fishing spots). The two types have different fishing spots.

You're accusing me of bigotry, how ironic. It's a nice attempt at argument, but your responses are facile and asinine, if not diatribe. Who's arrogant now?

Awesome

How much exp/hour do you get at 97? Do you use a granite lobster? Just curious :P I don't think it will be much of a difference.

Edited op

Use world 84 and you won't have much problems down there. That is the official world people use for mining and fishing so it helps keep the monsters down there at bay. At 99 fishing I was getting 45-50k xp per hour. It varies though due to the spots moving around. It is around 300-350k gp per hour so it's much better than monks. That was without a granite lobster by the way. I'll do more testing once I get a chance.

50k exp/h sounds about right, but I don't pay much attention. My exp rates are not trustable, as my attention span is horrid. YouTube, forums, IRC, Skype, work... I do use a Granite Lobster.

1) How much exp/hour can you expect to ear there with 99 fishing and a granite lobster?

My tests for my Dynamic Moneymaking Guide at level 90 Fishing with a lobster suggest you should expect 120 catches per hour or so. That's about 45k/hr

2) How many Rocktail/hour can you catch at 99 with a granite lobster?

See above.

3) Are there any safespots, or do you constantly have to be on the look out for the rock monster things down there?

There are only "mostly safespots". But if you get on a full world you'll rarely be attacked.

4) Are the living minerals required for fishing Rocktails easily buy-able on the ge?

Depends on the market. For a while they were unbuyable, then they tanked, now they are going up again.

5) Do you only catch Rocktails, or do you also catch the cavetail things?

Each has a different fishing spot graphic; the rocktails are bigger. Rocktails actually seem faster than cavefish, so I only do the latter when the rocktail spots disappear (as they do sometimes.)

I would say put it in ge to buy the night before and maybe after work/school the following day you could have 3 to 5k of the living minerals.

I don't recall the spots moving around very much. It seemed like they stayed good for a lot longer than lets say at the guild. The monsters didn't attack me as long as I was fishing. It was only when the spot moved and I easily killed them when I had to fight them.

My mining was to low to mine the monster remains, but that could benefit you if you have the level to do it.

Good Luck,

Rachy <3:

I wouldn't know personally, but I do remember in a similar thread that you catch as many rocktails as sharks if that's any kind of baseline to help. Hopefully that wasn't the n00by post you were looking to avoid  .
