New Skill: Alchemy

Featured Replies

I also think there should, after a while with this skill, have a quest called "In Search For The Philosopher's stone".

"In search to get the philosopher stoned" sounds better :P

kidding...kidding... You should send what you already have into Jagex customer support!!

I like this idea. One of these days I'll post the artistry skill over here on tipit (I posted it on runehq about 4 or 5 months ago, got a lot of good reviews, but I haven't been back there since I left in July)

Anyway, the concept of alchemy can be carried a bit further than just transmuting metals. One of the root words in alchemy is chemistry. We have a chemist NPC in the game already, and we depend upon him to make various items for quests and such. Within the auspices of an alchemy skill we'd include the various things this chemist does for us now (such as brewing lantern oil, making the explosive stuff, etc)

A couple more aspects are the use of various acids. We could use acid to "etch" metal (armor & weapons) and customize it - wouldn't that be cool?

Also, when you speak of radioactivity, the idea that we could mine uranium would be interesting. Being near it would cause hp damage (damage numbers appearing in a radioactive symbol). Might also make your hair fall out (wouldn't be a problem for me, my character is already bald!). Once you've collected uranium ore, you'd have to purify it then you can use it in your alchemy processes of transmutation.

Just some thoughts to consider...

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but, I am not sure you realize tht what you heard is not what I meant.

Ty for the thoughts and corrections. I also though, but maybe, just maybe, t trees can be transmuted(need ideas) or plants or maybe human or animal transmutation? Ur thoughts?

What you have to remember is that all the characters on runescapia are made of scapon(carbon...) that is missing many of the electrons that are what makes up gold.

And to the radioactivity post, this a game with magic not urainum(although it would be funny if used on a fire....) what we need to do is keep within those bounderys.

About the acid on armour, its a golden idea( ) but it is not really connected but anyhow it would take way to long to make each moderation to the basic code it is just not worth it

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.
