Willanous
Hokay, so I was just reading the monster hunting guide on tip.it for mithril dragons. I learned that apparently the leaf-bladed sword is the best choice when meleeing, but I also noticed in the steel/iron dragon guide, it recommended a whip. Why is this? I know that both are weak to stab, so, can anybody help me out? Is a leaf-bladed sword better for ANY metal dragon, or is whip the best choice? Thanks!

Magic, Melee and Anti Breath. Nonetheless. I would say Whip; although i have never tried nor will try. :ohnoes: 99 Fishing | 99 Cooking | 99 Woodcutting | | 99 Herblore | 99 Prayer | | 99 Runecrafting | 99 Fletching | 99 Hitpoints | 99 Range |Youtube: AnthonyOnRS. Dare589
It's because of how defense works in RS: it doesn't mitigate damage, it only makes you more likely to miss. Iron/Steel dragons don't have enough defense to warrant a lower DPS leaf-bladed sword, but Mithrils do, as whip would miss too often. Clickie the signature image for me blog. Vox populi, vox dei. First best is Zamorakian spear (1 handed, but can be used with super antifire). Abyssal whip - i recommend it if you have 99 attackLeaf-bladed sword - if you have 95 attack or lower. Abyssal whips penetration gets better once you have higher attack level, and the big difference between Leaf-bladed sword and Whip is the strength bonus and the attack bonus they give. If you have low attack (under 90), then use Leaf-bladed sword at Steel and Mithril dragons. A weapon's power depends on the wielders skills. The higher attack level you have, the better it will get. i_r_slayer
ugh.... 76? But I am planning on training it up to 80 or so soon. I'd use leaf bladed sword even against iron dragons at your level.
abbydog95
Whip is much better, although im also max melee so it may be different. PSN: Skaterguy1224 Tactical Nukes -
Dire_Wolf
ugh.... 76? But I am planning on training it up to 80 or so soon.Use Leaf-bladed sword at Metals (All of them except for Bronze dragon - Whip). When your at 90+ attack level, then it's smart to consider Whip. parthenorius
Also, when wielding a leaf-bladed sword, make sure to wear the cape you get from ardougne achievement diary. It adds another +6 bonus to stab (and +6 to prayer).

And as Parthenorius said, get that cape! Attack bonus = Higher penetration/accuracy. Leaf-bladed sword (STAB)+Ardougne cloak 3 (+6 STAB ATTACK BONUS) = Better.
