Money making after long break...

Featured Replies

So i know one of the biggest and most important things in all of Rune Scape is money and how to make some. There are also many of those people who think money making is easy when it isn't.

My case is that I've had a loooooooong break from RS and decided to come back and actually try to be succesfull, no matter how gutwrenchingly boring some money making tactics can be, but all i need is a little push in the right direction; With all of these new updates, the Grand Exchange, skills etc. I have long been lost in the line of prosperity knowledge and just need a shove back in it.

If those who know could tell me which skills are recommended and what to sell etc. It would be very greatly appreciated :D

Thanks in advance :)

I link you to Qeltar's money-making guide. He has some awesome tips on making money that don't require any skills.

I hope that isn't against the rules, lol. Anyway, read it through. It's a good guide.

I generally loose my mind and give in when attempting some of the grindfest ways of making money many people use.

After coming back to Runescape at the beginning of summer I have doubled and then tripled my wealth to about 35m casually. You are guaranteed over 1m a week through Manage Thy Kingdom (if you keep up with it once or twice a week) and slaying gets progressively more profitable as you level up (not to mention training many skills at once!) A casual herb run in between tasks or quests can also stack up nicely.

I started with around your levels when I came back. For me its all about staying interested- as a result I keep entertained with clan mates to pass time during boring tasks and try to do new and interesting things when I get the urge (unless its completely a waste of time). Also the way I go about money goals is picking out an item that I really want or would help me train and building up the cash for it. Getting free pineapples/seaweed/battlestaves can help also.

I use Qeltar's guides on his website also- if you need some cash fast thats the place to look- the free section was just updated so the methods are "fresh".

Slayer is killer money right now.

With the recent prayer and herblore updates, the prices on herbs, some seeds, and higher level bones have gone way up.

I've been casually slaying for the last couple months, and my cash has gone from about 18m to 45m, and that's not counting all the random things I've bought. I'd say I've probably made atleast 35m, and I haven't even really been focusing on it. I just get on a couple days a week.

Kingdom management, as previously suggested is also a great idea. Today I checked my kingdom (which is set on 10 herbs, 5 maples) and turned 400k into 1.7m. That's more than quadrupling my money. It's a good deal ;]

Another good thing to do periodically is herb farming. Toadflax are a great low-risk moneymaker. Just stop by your patches every hour or two when you get the chance and watch your money pile up.

Thanks for the great ideas guys :D Keep listing your ways so i can try them all and see which ones work ^.^

Also i'll probably need to train my combat skills a bit for some but It shouldnt be too painful :D

By the way can someone show me or add me in RS and tell me about this kingdom management? Or if there is a guide for it? Thanks :D

Herb farming is a good idea with the recent herblore update. Although I have the feeling prices will fall soon. It's just a feeling though.

Also, try tanning dragon hides. You want to bring a couple of mil (if you have it) and buy Red > Green > Blue > black hides.

Red seems to have the highest profit, but it is a pain in the cabbage to buy and sell.

Green is a nice alternative, almost 200 gp profit, and it buys and sells easy.

Buy hides at the GE, save a little money for tanning (20 gp for each hide) and go to Al Kharid. Tan your hides, and sell the leather in GE.

With 10 mil invested, it will profit you 1 - 1.2 mil.

A tiny moneymaker is buying yew longbow (u) and bowstrings and simply string the bows. The yew longbows sell almost right away.

People buy the bows from ge for High alching.

But it will cost you time, much time, and the profit isn't that high per hour. But in the end, you get a 99 skill and can add millions to your cash pile.

SO in a nutshell: try tanning hides. And if you really want, try the stringing. But it isn't a very good money maker.

Tanning the hides in Canafis would be faster then doing it in Al Kahrid.

Yes it is, however, the tanner in Canifis charges more then 20 gp. Don't know exactly how much more, but it's more then Al Kharid, meaning less profit.

As stated before: slayer especially since you said you want to raise your combat skills a bit.

Slayer gives good cash + loads of charms to raise summon once you feel ready for it.

I'm going for Slay 85 and in one week I made 14mil. It's more actually since I raised my summon some levels...

You'll get nice drops once you get to the higher levels + do the clues if you like doing 'em.

Every clue gets you at least 50k, while average is around 100-150k... U can multiply this by 10 once in a while (when u get god-dhide armor pieces)

I personally do a herb farming run too, between every assignment. I just plant the seeds I get from slaying (except snaps, which I sell)

Good luck!
