Sy_Accursed
13. Agree with King Vargas' plan, and a cutscene will transport you to a new area. Proceed northeast along the passage you appear in. It is important that you walk, since King Vargas can be left behind otherwise. It is also vital that you distract (by attacking) the monsters you encounter along the way, else they'll attack King Vargas. You do not have to defeat them, just keep him safe. Use food on him to restore his hit points along the way. Should he "die", you'll have to restart from the first cave. At the end of the passage, climb down the ladder you find. This passage claims you need to distract everything. This is incorrect. I walked him through (twice as he died first time [see below]) and unless you leave him behind (and thus get the daggas subdued him message) nothing will attack him. However notable when you reach the sub level 4 tunnel it is empty and then a load of specially spawned dagganoths come to attack you and vargas, it is at this point you have to defend him as they do attack him. Though I get impression from clan mates which tunnel this occurs in varies from person to person. But you get a little screen shake and dialogue to forewarn you. This occured in the same tunnel on both my runs however and in the first run lack of food is what caused Vargas to die This map is wrong. There is 1 pillar in each corner of the entrance chamber of the Queen area. There is no pillars where circled, only the tunnel to the Queen. pokemama
The pillars on the map have been moved after screenshot confirmation by a crewbie. The "ambush" has been posted by 1 or 2 people, but others have not experienced it. Since attacks by monsters is expected in this dungeon, there seems to be no reason to add it. it's a lot easier to get over yourself when you look at intelligence the same way you look at beauty, or height, or eye color: being smart is easy, but being good is hard ... being smart is handed to you, being good is handed to *nobody*.
