SkillingWoo
I can't enter into high detail in RS. (I get the error message: "Could not enter into high detail."). Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS (updated driver today, and that update was reflected in dxdiag, so I think that's all working properly.)Processor: AMD Sempron Processor 3000+, ~1.8GHz2GB RamWindows VistaJava is updated, Firefox is updated. I don't know why I can't enter into HD. Any ideas on troubleshooting?

SkillingWoo
I fail to see how that would fix it -- I'm fairly certain you use the same version of Java to run standard detail and high detail. Anyways, I had the monitor plugged in to the onboard monitor port (right term?) instead of the one on my graphics card. That fixed it. :-P. You should be getting much better performance now. :P

I know you've solved it now, but my suggestion of uninstall reinstall java is ALWAYS a good first move. Java is tremendously messy, if you install it now you get Java Update 16 (I think) installed; but each time it updates it recycles from old ones without deleting them.So you end up with java update 16 thru 20 in a few months and this can cause bugs to occur. Uninstalling them all and getting a clean install of the latest often clears up bugs.
